CALL YOUR REPS 🚨 DEMAND MN EXTEND AND EXPAND SULFIDE MINING BAN. Call your Minnesota elected official and use the call-in script below to demand they protect Minnesota’s watersheds.

“My name is (YOUR NAME) and I am a voter in your district. As Trump’s attacks on Minnesota continue to threaten Minnesotans, the need for a unified front against Trump has never been greater. Politicians on both sides of the isle have been prioritizing corporate profits instead of their constituents and it must end. Before you get my vote I am demanding you pledge to:
- Support the extension and expansion of Walz’s Sulfide Mining Ban
- Uphold and defend our treaties with sovereign indigenous nations
- Support the “Prove It First” bill upon reintroduction during the next session

It’s important to me that my representatives protect our watersheds and environment. Sulfide mining has no place in our state’s future.”

PRESS CONFERENCE AT GOVERNOR DEBATE 🚨 The Climate Justice Committee and Sunrise Movement - Macalester invite you to our press conference and bannering outside the upcoming MN gubernatorial debate in Rochester next Wednesday Oct. 21 at 6:30 pm. Join us to demand the candidates take a stand to EXTEND AND EXPAND the sulfide mining ban in the BWCA. SULFIDE MINES DO NOT BELONG ANYWHERE IN MN.

We will be carpooling to the start location. DM us if you’re interested in joining!

BAN SULFIDE MINING NOW. Join the Climate Justice Committee this Monday 9/28 at 5pm at the Governor’s mansion to tell Walz and Klobuchar to expand the mining ban and defend our clean water!

Sulfide mining is a threat to more than three major watersheds in Minnesota. It’s critical Walz protect all of Minnesota’s water from this toxic industry. Walz took a positive step by banning mining in the BWCA, but now it’s important to take a stand to ensure Minnesota’s water is protected for the long term.

🚨📆Tell the DNR by September 14th that we do NOT want copper-sulfide mines in MN. See link in bio.

All water is connected, and the proposed Tamarack mine, although 120 miles north of the Twin Cities, is located directly upstream. Any acid runoff from the Tamarack mine would quickly make its way down to the cities.

Water is Minnesota’s most precious resource, and Talon Metals wants to sacrifice our clean drinking water in the name of corporate profits. Sulfide mines last, at most, 10 years. In that time, these mines will provide minimal jobs and minimal mineral yield, while destroying clean water for generations to come. There’s no guarantee the local community will see any long lasting economic benefits, but Tamarack mine poisoning Minnesota’s water supply is a guarantee! 100% of existing copper sulfide mines have polluted nearby water sources with acid runoff.

While the recent executive order banning the construction of sulfide mines in the Boundary Waters by Walz is a huge victory, our fight is not over. The executive order expires 90 days after Walz leaves office and it does NOT include proposed mines like Tamarack, which developers plan to build outside of the protected BWCA region. The people of Minnesota need to make it clear we do NOT want ANY sulfide mines in our state,

Let the DNR know how we feel about toxic mining, and demand they take a stand on toxic copper-sulfide mining in our state! When we fight, we win!
