🎒 Program participants kicked off the new school year with food, fun, and festivities just in time for back-to-school—and left with a backpack filled with the essentials.

Three of Change Inc.’s newest programs helped families prepare for back-to-school with a Back-to-School Bash event filled with fun, food, and festivities. Family participants from Mulberry Junction Out-of-School Time program, ASPIRE (Assisting Students & Parents in Resources and Engagement), and Family Healing joined Change Inc. staff at East Side Neighborhood Services on August 20, 2026, and took home backpacks filled with school essentials.

For the second year in a row, Change Inc. delivered Camp Healthy Minds, a three-week summer enrichment program grounded in The Healthy Mind Platter framework.

Camp Healthy Minds brings a series of engaging daily activities to young people residing in the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). These young people, referred to as Campers, participate in daily activities that optimize brain health and promote well-being, including time to focus, connect, play, be physical, reflect, let your brain rest, and sleep. No matter how or why these campers came to the JDC, each deserves enrichment programming that makes a positive difference in their lives.

For the second year in a row, Change Inc. delivered Camp Healthy Minds, a three-week summer enrichment program grounded in The Healthy Mind Platter framework, which identifies seven essential daily activities to optimize brain health and promote well-being.

GAP School staff, Regina Edmisten and Dave Pearson, were in Texas earlier this month to convene with other YouthBuild programs that are a part of the Department of Labor ETA Growth Opportunities grant. This grant helps support our YouthBuild program at GAP School and focuses on vital work with justice-impacted young people!

Over the course of 2 days, they dove into critical topics, including:

* Leveraging data to tell our impact story and strengthening intensive case management

*Adolescent brain development, behavior, and the connection to justice involvement

*Working with employers to advance equitable, second-chance hiring strategies

*Implementing meaningful restorative justice practices
