Today is National Senior Citizens Day! Celebrating its 38th year, this holiday honors the accomplishments of the older adults in our country. According to the 2020 Census, one in six adults in the United States is 65 or older.

Looking to help senior citizens who may need extra support? Decorate lunch bags for Meals on Wheels! For more than 50 years, Meals on Wheels has worked to address senior hunger and isolation. More than two millions seniors receive help from Meals on Wheels each year, and many more are on the waiting list. Help bring joy to a homebound senior with a brightly decorated lunch bag. This week, staff and representatives from Twin Cities Meals on Wheels programs are traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2026 Meals on Wheels America Annual Conference to connect and collaborate with programs nationwide!

On the Meals on Wheels menu today? Beef Sloppy Joe, served on a whole wheat bun with mashed potatoes, diced carrots and a fruit cup.

All meals are made fresh, without preservatives and exceed nutrition guidelines. The majority of the meals served by Twin Cities Meals on Wheels programs are sourced locally through our partnership with Open Arms of Minnesota.

What an incredible night! 👠👞 A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support Meals on Wheels. With your help, we raised $49,106 to support nutritious meal delivery and friendly check-ins for older adults in the Twin Cities! That's phenomenal! ✨
