Word around town is that reading is at an all-time low.

What if I told you that every single young man in this photo completed reading an entire book out loud, taking turns, in just 5 days? Why? Because reading is a vital part of the program!

🚫 No phones!
🚫 No TVs!
🚫 No game systems!

At graduation, I asked these young men how many times we prayed over the 5 days. Without missing a beat, they replied: 15 times!

Camps like this are what is going to save this next generation. We have a real solution to the problem, but we cannot continue to do this critical work without you!

WE NEED OUR VILLAGE.

Our Boys to Men program is about more than basketball. It is about young men having someone show up for them, believe in them, challenge them, and remind them that their future can be different.

We have already walked alongside 300 young men through this program.

We have watched young men grow, find confidence, build relationships, and begin to see possibilities for their lives that they may not have seen before.

That is why we cannot stop.

We have raised $16,075 toward our $25,000 goal, but we still need $8,925.

Some things might seem impossible—even just the thought of trying. But when you are pouring into these young men on a whole other level and leading with love, you realize this is exactly what our city and our village needs.

This boys-to-men camp is saving lives, and you can feel that God has His hands around us every step of the way.

What does commitment mean to you?
It takes a different type of dedication and leadership to wake up, spend the entire day with them, sleep, wake up, and do it all over again—5 days straight. Most of our staff have their own families, yet they show up for children who aren't theirs and give 100%. I have the utmost respect for you guys. There is a special place in my heart for those who aren't "pump faking" and are genuinely trying to save these young men from cycles they were taught growing up. Breaking those old patterns is truly doing God's work.

The Old Program: Many friends grew up learning hate, self-hate, how to throw away their lives, how to be a "gangsta" or "crash out," how to drop out, and how not to be a man—a program you can never graduate from.

Our Positive Alternative: We started something real. Already, 300 young men have graduated from our program!

It is a priceless feeling when you see that light switch on—when a kid comes to you from the darkness, and that light turns into full color. Man, now we're talking about a true game changer!

WE’RE ASKING OUR COMMUNITY TO STAND WITH DSGSH.

Don’t Shoot Guns Shoot Hoops is working to raise $25,000 by September 18 to help us bridge a temporary funding gap and continue the work we do every day with young people.

Through basketball, mentorship, leadership development, education, and safe spaces, we create opportunities for young people to grow, build confidence, and see a future beyond the challenges they face.

This work matters. And we are committed to continuing it.

Now, we need our community beside us.
