💜 7th Annual Community Tribute for Domestic Violence Prevention 💜
Last night, we were honored to once again participate as rose placers at Maria's Voice 7th Annual Community Tribute for Domestic Violence Education and Prevention.
This year's theme reminded us that one small action, one person's voice, can be part of the solution. What may seem like a simple gesture can create ripples of change, especially when others are inspired to do the same.
Our own social media manager, Tanya, shared how she began placing domestic violence resource tear-off sheets in the bathrooms of local establishments. A year later, those sheets are still being replenished. While it's heartbreaking to know how many people may need these resources, it's also comforting to know that someone looking for help may find it when they need it most.
We also heard from Tyler, just a teenager, who spent his summer attending children's safety fairs and talking with kids about what it means to be a good friend. His message was simple: be kind, look out for one another, and don't be afraid to stand up when something isn't right. A powerful message coming from one of our younger voices.
Minnesota United's roses are placed in honor of those who are still missing or have not yet been reported missing. This tribute holds a particularly meaningful place in our hearts, as Minnesota United began with the searches for Mandy, Kira, and Danielle, whose disappearances were connected to domestic violence.
While our hearts remain dedicated to finding Minnesota's missing, domestic violence awareness and prevention will always be at the core of who we are.
💜As we left the event last night, we were greeted by a breathtaking sunset.
It brought us right back to the evening of Mandy's funeral when we walked out of the church to find the sky painted in those same beautiful colors. Since that day, we've come to call them "Mandy skies." Somehow, when our group comes together to do the hard things, those beautiful purple skies seem to find us.
Last night, we all stopped to take it in, and eventually, we said what we were all thinking: "This is definitely a Mandy sky." 💜
We are incredibly grateful to be included in this event each year and to stand alongside Maria's Voice and so many other individuals and organizations committed to raising awareness, supporting survivors, and preventing domestic violence.
