2nd Chance Outreach, North Commons Park, Harold Mezile North Community YMCA, The SEECCAA Group, GlamLife Events, and KMOJ are hosting "The Annual Back To School Carnival".
This is a family-friendly event and is free and open to the public. We invite you to come out on August 17, 2024, from 1pm to 5pm and enjoy the free food, games, entertainment, healthcare screening, job fair, and other activities and opportunities. We will also be giving away free backpacks.
Pre-register below to receive a backpack for your child(ren).
Note: ALL CHILDREN AND A PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE A BACKPACK AT EVENT.

For those that missed our organization community event. We festived, we feasted, and we enjoyed a positive, peaceful, community event, and beautiful vehicles and great artists that day. Thank you to those that were apart of making this a great event and a beautiful day in our very own Northside - North Minneapolis. It was a great learning curve completing this event, it was a humbling experience and it was great to see all the sweat, tears, endless nights of work to come to fruition. We take this day in remembrance of the sacrifice of our ancestors and great heritage that has help to shape this day..

With today Enjoy and Celebrate Freedom and all that has been overcome and for much more to overcome to provide equity, equality, and access for all.

Happy Juneteenth from The SEECCAA Group.

On June 19, 1865, the African-American people that were enslaved in Texas who were believed to be some of the final people still enslaved that needed to be notified and finally recieved the info of being legally free from slavery and Juneteenth was then founded on this day to celebrate freedom and this was the African-American Emancipation, which is also the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration day of the ending of slavery.

Our organization stand with the accountability that was shown today. Our thoughts are with the family and community for George Floyd. As we continue to press forward for equity, equality, and justice for our community, we understand the need right now for grieving, healing, and to also process the emotions during these trying time. The loss of life is traumatic within our communities of color and today was a great step in the right direction. Although there is so much more work to be done to help our communities bridge the gaps and disparities, especially those in the area of race. The verdict today can be the beginning for healing our communities.
