I know it has been a long while since any postings here. But I have been following this one for a while now and it seemed a perfect fit to share with any of you that have done cabaret work. Ana Gasteyer has long been creating work as an alter-ego under the name of . We ALL know this person. This is but one of MANY hysterical posts on her Insta feed. She is either going through maniacal rehearsals with her accompanist Nate Patten, doing celebrity cabaret cruises or hiring a new personal assistant. Her numerous reinventions of the score are abusively funny. A rabbit hole you can dive in to for hours. Every one a gem. https://www.instagram.com/p/DQR1VFYDYxq/

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of one of our dearest founding members, Les Block, who passed away over the weekend. His endless knowledge of the Great American Songbook and all things New York cabaret inspired us each time he took the stage, and his kindness off stage was authentic and true. He will be sorely missed. 🎤💜

This is how you command a room. SO big and yet so intimate at the same time. Way back then she was something special.

He has been on my radar for a while. True NY style cabaret artist. I think he works with some great arrangements and have been in contact with him about sharing those. But when I asked why he never makes it to MN, he said "well since you asked?" Looks like he is bringing his new Sondheim show to on 6/26. I plan on going if anyone else is interested.

Not usually into sharing vocal competition posts (because….ugh) but this here is why we do cabaret. Take a song, reframe it and make it yours. Sheer poetry.

It has been a while since a post, but a few new musical releases caught my attention and I am passing them on to you all. is a Broadway goes Jazz artist. She was a young find for Eliza in MFL opposite Richard Chamberlain years ago and went on to Les Miz and handfuls of other roles. Her new project is called . Based on old and new pieces with Michel Legrand focusing on "noir" music. Apparently it was a full song cycle in her cabaret show. has been on my radar for a long while, a crooner from the West Coast and I have reached out to him for some of his arrangements in the past. He is a crooner/ songwriter with his own style, a lush velvet baritone. He goes from Jazz to Broadway on his new disc . He likes to play small rooms and has been in town once. I regret not seeing him.
What grabs me both about both of them is that they are not huge voices trying to impress with runs and high notes. But both sink into the lyrics and tone of the songs and even on digital - you get their sense of connection to the material

There is no cabaret artist in this world who does not owe a debt of gratitude to the late, great Stephen Sondheim for his music and lyrics. His memory will always be a blessing, and we will do our best to honor his legacy. Not a day goes by…
