We couldn’t close the books on last month’s Abaco Legacy Medical Campaign without giving a shout out to all our local supporters who helped make the week happen.

At the risk of forgetting someone, huuuuuuge thanks go to:
• H2O Bahamas for providing water throughout the week for our team and patients;
• Calypso Coffee for bringing coffee and cake to the clinic every morning for our team;
• Maxwell’s for storing our refrigerated medication between clinics;
• the Kellys for housing some of our team members;
• all the fabulous bakers in the community who made treats for the team each day;
• Darlene for always cooking the best food for our team dinners each night;
• and everyone who volunteered, whether checking patients in and out, holding hands and speaking words of calm to nervous patients, walking patients through post-op care, helping out with the screening process, etc, etc.

You all played such a vital role in the week being a success and we’re beyond grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you!!

We have an awesome team from the World Cataract Foundation here this week, performing the next round of cataract and pterygium surgeries as part of the Abaco Legacy Medical Campaign. 🤩
Today was Day 1 and it went so smoothly, even with an obligatory island-wide power outage!! 18 patients trusted us with their eyes and should have their sight restored when they come back tomorrow to have the eyepatch removed.
What a privilege to do what we get to do!!!

We are proud to join in recognizing Dr. Fleming for his outstanding service. For 14 years on the World Cataract Foundation Board, he has shared his expertise, guided with thoughtful leadership, and helped expand access to sight-restoring care for those who need it most. Thank you, Dr. Fleming, for the lasting difference you continue to make.

The inaugural cohort elected to our Memphis Medical Society Hall of Fame represent the deep talent and passion at the heart of the Memphis medical community. As we approach our 150th Anniversary Gala this coming Saturday, we will celebrate the iconic physicians that were nominated and elected by their peers this year.
