Thank you to the Collierville Police Department and Chief Dale Lane for hosting us, and to Susan Deason and Carl Davis of Memphis Allies for sharing the incredible work being done alongside Youth Villages to make a positive impact in our community. We also appreciate Shelby County Commissioner Mick Wright for joining us.

The Memphis Metropolitan Association of Chiefs of Police held its July meeting today at Collierville High School, hosted by the Collierville Police Department.

Special thanks to Chief Dale Lane and his team for their hospitality and support.

Our guest speakers were Memphis Allies Executive Director Susan Deason and Managing Director of Operations Carl Davis, who shared insight into the incredible work Memphis Allies and Youth Villages are doing to reduce violence, support young people, and strengthen communities throughout Shelby County.

We were also pleased to welcome Shelby County Commissioner Mick Wright as a special guest.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another valuable opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn from those working to make our communities safer.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our nation declared a bold promise — that liberty, self-government, and the pursuit of a better future belonged to the people.

As we celebrate America’s 250th Independence Day, the Memphis Metropolitan Area Chiefs of Police Association honors the generations who have served, sacrificed, and carried that promise forward.

This day is a reminder that freedom is never passive. It is protected through service, strengthened through community, and preserved by the responsibility we share to one another.

MMACP would like to extend a sincere thank you to University of Tennessee Health Science Center for hosting our monthly meeting yesterday and for their outstanding hospitality.

We were honored to receive a special welcome from Executive Vice Chancellor and COO Raaj Kurapati, and we appreciate UT Health Center’s continued partnership and support of public safety leadership across our region.

A special thank you also goes to our guest speaker, Ammar Ammar with UTHSC Cyber Security, for providing valuable insight into today’s cybersecurity challenges and the importance of preparation, awareness, and collaboration in protecting our agencies and communities.

We were also grateful to welcome special guest U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Texas, T. Michael O’Connor.

Thank you to Table Pleasers for providing a wonderful meal and to everyone who attended and helped make this month’s meeting a success.

MMACP remains committed to bringing law enforcement leaders together for meaningful conversations, professional development, and stronger partnerships throughout our communities.

Today’s Memphis Metropolitan Association of Chiefs of Police May meeting was proudly hosted by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office at the SCSO Training Academy.

Thank you to Sheriff Floyd Bonner and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for hosting today’s luncheon and bringing agencies and community partners together from across the Mid-South.

We also extend our appreciation to today’s guest speakers, Tyreece Miller with the United States Marshals Service, David Bratcher with the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South, and Greg Nelson with Love Worth Finding Ministries for sharing with our members during today’s meeting.

And thank you to Pink Flamingo Catering for providing an outstanding lunch.

As National Police Week 2026 begins across our nation, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

Over the last several weeks, member agencies of the Memphis Metropolitan Association of Chiefs of Police have gathered across the Mid-South for memorial services, wreath layings, candlelight ceremonies, and moments of reflection to ensure our fallen heroes are never forgotten. Their names, their service, and their sacrifices continue to live on through those who carry the badge today.

National Police Week, observed from Sunday, May 10 through Saturday, May 16, stands as a reminder that behind every badge is a commitment to serve others, no matter the cost.

The MMACP stands united with the families, friends, and fellow officers of those we have lost. We remember them not only for how they died, but for how they lived and served.
