If you’ve been to Mattson’s Lower Harbor Park in Marquette, you may have noticed some exciting changes! 👀

We’re implementing the first phase of our National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Safe our Great Lakes Project at Lower Harbor and the Marquette Yacht Club!

This project will better protect Lake Superior by creating a more resilient section of coastline while also filtering stormwater runoff with rain gardens, bioswales, and native plant species.

The work is just getting started–Lower Harbor is the first of several sites along Marquette’s Lakeshore where we’re working to improve coastal resiliency. Special shoutout to our Great Lakes Climate Corps crews who will be assisting at all sites! 🌊

These smaller, green infrastructure projects as part of our Save our Great Lakes Project are separate and in addition to our mile-long coastal resiliency project in progress by SWP and the City of Marquette.

We’ve got a busy summer of more exciting projects ahead–stay tuned for more updates on how we’re protecting our environment and supporting our communities. 💙

We’re planting 100K trees in Marquette County this summer! 🌳

As part of our organization’s work to enhance coastal habitats on Lake Superior and local ecosystems, we’ve set out to plant 100,000 native trees throughout Marquette County this summer. This is one of the many projects led by our GLCC and GLTCC crews to protect and care for our environment and watersheds. 💙

🌲 Interested in having some trees planted? Requests are now open to local municipalities, local organizations, and private landowners to have trees planted on your land - for free!

Simply complete the request form below with your desired location for planting, number of trees, and if you’d like assistance from our GLCC and GLTCC crews for planting.

If you’re a local municipality, organization or landowner who wants to help us get to 100K trees planted this summer, fill out this form to complete the request: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScCJk9-wVGAdMCi0QoeHnweSK5kkzEayLJXT0el4d2x2mtIFg/viewform
