The Marquette District of St. Vincent de Paul is so much more than just thrift stores. Our Financial Aid office, located in our Marquette store, provides critical financial and social assistance to people across the region.

Last year, we provided $39,646 to help individuals with rent and eviction prevention, $31,743 to assist with heat and utility bills, and $15,723 to meet a variety of other community needs. In total, our staff responded to over 1,000 inquiries about our available services.

With the cost of living on the rise, we’ve seen more families and individuals turning to us for help. Please consider donating or volunteering to help continue our mission!

UPDATE: The store will be closing at 2:00pm today! The food pantry plans to be open until 4pm. The financial aid office is closed today.

Is your business or organization in need of shelving and display equipment?

We have four large shelving units that we are hoping someone out there could take off our hands. We’re asking for $50 for each, or $200 for all, but flexible. You would have to be able to haul them, we can offer some assistance with loading.

Our medical loan closet program represents the heart of our mission to support our neighbors in need.

We are proud to announce that, through this program, we loaned out 1,065 pieces of medical equipment from October 2024 through September 2025 — serving a total of 721 individuals. From wheelchairs to walking canes to bedside commodes, our medical loan closet program provides community members with at-home healthcare equipment free-of-charge.

Plus, thanks to a generous grant from the Superior Health Foundation and the support from SVDP Marquette staff and NMU’s Dr. Michael Kowalczyk, we were recently able to digitize the equipment checkout process. So, you can say goodbye to flipping through dozens of binder pages to find your checkout records and say hello to an easy system that takes just a few computer mouse clicks!

If you haven’t stopped in for a while, you’ll notice some exciting changes to the store!

We recently rearranged the layout of items like housewares, dishes, shoes, accessories, electronics, and more. With new shelving and displays, we’ve opened up more space for products and made it easier for you to shop!

Plus, thanks to last semester’s Construction Management students at NMU, we’ve made some behind-the-scenes expansions for inventory and pricing!
