Please join us for UPLC's Annual Meeting at Ore Dock Brewing Co. !

The evening begins at 4pm with our annual business meeting, where we will welcome two new board members and honor two longstanding members as they conclude their service. UPLC staff will present highlights from the field over the past year and announce what is on the horizon, followed by a social hour with light dinner and dessert and a cash bar.

At 6pm, enjoy a special presentation from acclaimed science educator, Alexis Dahl, who will explore the Sudbury Impact Crater and unique geology of UPLC’s Dead River Community Forest- Bridges Parcel. We hope to see you there!

This Sunday we sampled for “🧚🦐” and “🪵🐸” at Tory’s Woods Nature Preserve. Not sure what those mean or why they matter? Consider learning more about Michigan Vernal Pools Partnership!
This Sunday, UPLC joined up with Alger County MSU Extension and Michigan Natural Features Inventory at Tory’s Woods for a citizen science training event. We saw fairy shrimp, salamanders, frogs, and all the tiny eggs that depend on these ephemeral ponds. Reach out to learn more about Vernal Pool Patrol and the importance of safeguarding these habitats!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Bayou on Sunday! We were able to clean up the trails and install two duck boxes provided by 🌊 we are so thankful to have amazing partners and volunteers!

While we were able to take care of most of the downed trees, the bayou trails still need a little more clearing. Keep a lookout for more volunteer opportunities at the Bayou and other UPLC Preserves. Happy hiking!
