JCTA is hosting the WEST END NEIGHBORHOODS HISTORY TOUR on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Jefferson County teachers will have the opportunity to explore and learn about the rich history, culture, landmarks, and lived experiences in the West End neighborhoods and the Black communities of Louisville, KY.

TOUR BENEFITS:
(1) Improve teacher-student relationships through insight and interest in student home neighborhood, environment, and conditions.
(2) Enhance classroom and learning experiences connecting curriculum to local history, culture, developments and issues.
(3) Build effective student support systems identifying area challenges and resources.

PD CREDIT: Tour participants will earn three (3) Professional Development credit hours.

🚏🚍Apparently TARC service to the Chickasaw Neighborhood will be eliminated (route 25) and other bus service will be drastically cut in the West End. This will leave many stuck, unable to get to work, go to appointments, or shop. 🚍🚏For many folks, who rely on TARC buses for transportation, they will have to walk several blocks, maybe 2/3/4x the distance to get to a stop.
This is dangerous & cruel. ⛽

We don't want our neighbors or those in neighboring areas to be stranded or harmed by these changes. Come and speak TARC ambassadors about what this means for several West End neighborhoods. Changes to the routes (numbers & map), stops taken away, and routes ending. 🚏🚍
⏳TARC route changes will take effect on August 2nd.
