We have had reports of teens thinking it cool to walk on our pond, and yes it is cold, but not cold enough. If you see them again, feel free to call 911. They don’t seem to want to listen to reasonable adults. So maybe the police taking them home to explain it to their parents is needed.

❄️ Frozen Pond Safety Reminder ❄️

Yes we have a few ponds in Jtown.

Just because a pond looks frozen doesn’t mean it’s safe to walk on. Ice thickness can vary from one step to the next, and what looks solid from shore can turn into a very cold lesson in physics real fast.

🚫 Please don’t walk, skate, sled, or test your luck on frozen ponds.

⚠️ Ice can weaken around edges, drains, wildlife paths, and areas with moving water.

🧊 If you fall through, rescue becomes extremely dangerous for you and first responders.

If you see someone on the ice, don’t join them — call 911 instead. We’d much rather explain this post than respond to an emergency.

Please remind your kids/teens that the pond is not a playground and ice is potentially dangerous. We have reports of kids on the ice. You can die of hypothermia in minutes or drown if the ice gives way. This is very serious!

Plows should be here within the next hour. Plowing companies are struggling to get to neighborhoods since the main roads are bad.

Hello neighbors! Please see this request from our fire department. Be safe everyone!

With snow in the forecast, Fern Creek Fire & EMS is asking residents to help keep our community safe!

While clearing your driveways and sidewalks, please also clear at least 3 feet around any nearby fire hydrants and make a path to the street.

This small step helps firefighters quickly access hydrants during an emergency, and it could help save a home!

❄️ We are scheduled for our roads to be plowed starting overnight Saturday / Sunday morning. Please avoid street parking since cars on the street will make snow removal difficult and less effective ❄️
