🚨 BY POPULAR DEMAND: INDIGENERD IS GOING VIRTUAL 🚨
Our online community has been asking for a virtual option, and we are SO excited to finally make it happen 🥹✨
Just in time for the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu, we’re combining our first two Indigenerd sessions Indigenous Perspectives on Star Wars + Grogu Is One of Us into ONE special virtual gathering for our very first online Indigenerd experience!
Come thru on Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM PT!
We’ll start with a presentation + Q&A and end with a virtual meet-up!
🎟 Spots are limited — RSVP now: bit.ly/indigenerd-virtual
From the moment Grogu appeared in The Mandalorian, many of us recognized something deeper: an orphaned child protected by community, carrying culture and memory through survived violence. Together we’ll explore:
✨ Indigenous perspectives on Star Wars
✨ Why Native communities connected so deeply with Grogu
✨ Community reflections, fandom, and Indigenous futures
✨ What we’re hoping to see as we gear up for the next era of Star Wars
Presented by TCH Programming + Communications Coordinator Nizhoni Begay, IndigeNerd is a gathering space for nerds, dreamers, and storytellers preparing for Star Wars Celebration and beyond. This series explores the connections between Indigenous worldviews and the stories shaping modern fandom: Star Wars, X-Men, The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and more.
Note: This space is for everyone! Indigenous folks, Star Wars girlies, fantasy heads, sci-fi lovers, rebels, and allies are welcome! Be ready to listen, learn, and geek out together 💫
We’re hoping this is the beginning of a more regular rhythm of BOTH in-person and virtual programming moving forward, so our wider community can join us no matter where they are. Come build community. Come geek out. Come imagine Indigenous futures in a galaxy far, far away. May the Force be with you ✨
