Billy Deserved Better!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While filming our documentary Wings in Crisis, we met Billy.

Billy is a pelican. A living, feeling wild being who was simply trying to survive along the coast he calls home.

We were on the water filming Zoli Téglás of Pelican Rescue, documenting the heartbreaking reality pelicans are facing right now — starvation events, fishing line entanglements, hooks, habitat pressures, and acts of human cruelty that are almost impossible to comprehend.

Billy’s top beak had been broken off.

By a human.

Why? We have our ideas. But without proof, all we can say is this: no animal deserves this. No wild creature should suffer because of human ignorance, cruelty, or disregard.

Billy’s story is exactly why we are making Wings in Crisis. Because people need to see what is happening. They need to understand that our actions on land, on the water, and in our oceans, have consequences for the wildlife fighting to survive beside us.

Time for change. Canada, America and Australia are publicly killing our wildlife. What American and Australia are doing to the wild horses is unforgivable. For that alone we must change the people in power to those who will preserve our wildlife, our ecosystems and not put money and power above life and freedom

We are the Visitors 🦭🦭🦭. Yesterday, I was privileged to go out on the water with Keith Matassa, Erica, and Kevin from OARRA - and I learned so much about the urgent reality facing our marine mammal friends.

Some of what I learned was devastating. I was horrified to hear how some fishermen are brutalizing these beautiful creatures simply to keep them away from their nets.

There has to be a better way.

There has to be balance. There has to be coexistence-not only with the wildlife we see on land, but with the extraordinary lives struggling to survive in our oceans.

We must remember: this was their home first.

When we enter the ocean, we are the visitors.

I’m deeply grateful to Keith and his team, and I’m so looking forward to working with them in our upcoming documentary, Wings in Crisis, as we help bring these stories-and these animals-into the light.

Hanging with the Boys. I love all animals, love filming and telling stories about all animals, whether it’s about pups or elephants, but I have been a horse girl since before I could walk, so being out here at Red Bucket the other day filming stories for RB’s social is always a highlight. Love these kiddies 🩷🩷🩷 #

Zoli Teglas and Pelican Rescue go above and beyond to rescue Pelicans that have been entangled in hooks and fishing line, left to die. This could be such a simple fix if human kind would be respectful of their space, not fish on top of the pelicans and take their trash with them instead of using the ocean as a dumping ground. You know who you are!
