In 1996, this building was an empty hospital with trash on every floor.

It was the greatest risk of our lives. We didn’t know what we were doing. We were just available. So we opened one room, then a floor, then had enough faith to take on another.

Be daring. Be bold. Get rejected. Do it wrong. Keep showing up.

It was ragtag, and it was pure. For 32 years, it’s been the same thing every day: show up for somebody.

Each graduate has spent the past year growing, overcoming challenges, building new skills, and taking meaningful steps toward a new chapter. We’re proud of the work they’ve put in and the people they’ve become along the way.

Every Friday, our Community Food Pantry serves individuals and families in need across Los Angeles.💙

From 1–3 PM, our team distributes food made possible through the generous support of our Food Bank partners and donors.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to serve our neighbors and help make food available to those who need it.

Every month, our Food Bank receives an average of 500,000-700,000 pounds of food, supplying our partnering churches, Mobile Food Banks, Community Food Pantry, and Community Diner.

Through partnerships with major food donors, our Food Bank team receives fresh produce and dry goods throughout each month. With help from our Discipleship team, truckloads of food are reorganized into 18-20 individual pallets of mixed food items, ready for our partner organizations.

By 5:30 AM every Wednesday, our team is moving pallets out of the cooler and preparing the distribution area. From 6AM and 12PM, churches and organizations arrive to pick up food for the people they serve.

Today, 20 churches and organizations are registered in our Food Bank Program, picking up food each week and distributing it to their own communities across Los Angeles.

From generous food donors to the churches and organizations serving their communities, every step plays a part in getting food from the first truck delivery to families across Los Angeles. This work happens because we do it together.

We will never forget.

Twenty-five years since September 11, 2001, and the weight of that day still lives in us.

We still feel the ache of that morning, the lives cut short, the families left waiting, the firefighters and first responders who ran into buildings everyone else was running from.

That courage never leaves us.

We hold their memory close and we let it remind us why we show up for each other, especially on the hardest days.

Today we pause, we grieve, and we stand together as one community.

The Dream Center stands here today because two men said yes to a small church building in a neighborhood most people had written off.

Thirty two years later, Pastor Tommy Barnett looks back on what that yes became. A model that now reaches hundreds of dream centers across the country and around the world. A shift in how churches see the poor, from a cause to a calling.

None of this was inevitable. It took two men with a vision and a community willing to fund it, year after year, for thirty two years.
