🚨Volunteers needed for this weekend🚨

It’s hunter/jumper week and we’re counting down the minutes until we’re back in the park with our members and their horses. These shows are so special in large part because of the incredible volunteer team that makes them possible - and we need volunteers for this weekend! We are still looking for an announcer, p**p scoopers, results runners and several other important roles.

As a reminder, if you’re looking to have your points count for year-end awards, you must complete eight volunteer hours to be eligible. Plus, you get to learn about what it takes to run a horse show, make friends and be a part of a special community!

LWSC English/Western Fun show is Saturday, August 29th. We welcoome Edward Higbee as our judge! This will be the last show for the year, and we hope you'll come join us for Ranch, Western, English, Trail and Jumping classes. As always, we need volunteers. Specifically we need a Ring Steward. Our next Hunter/Jumper show is just around the corner and it’s time to get your entries in 🎉 As a reminder, you must have shown in at least one regular season Hunter/Jumper show to be eligible for the finals next month. It’s going to be an event you don’t want to miss!

Do you have your eye on the year-end prize? If so, make sure to complete your volunteer hours. Still looking to log a few more? Now’s your chance! We are looking for an announcer and back gate volunteers, and have a select number of stalls available for the individuals who fill those roles.

Last chance to register for Trail Obstacle Play day at Bridle Trails State Park.

Trail Obstacle Play day is coming up on August 1st 2026. Registration closes Friday July 31st at noon.

Visit Bridle Trails State Park, enjoy the lowest pressure horse event of the year. Work with your best equine friend on a variety of interesting obstacles, then take a break and check out the beautiful trails in the park.

This is not a competition. Make your own schedule, go at your own pace.

We’re galloping towards our second Hunter/Jumper show of the season and could not be more excited to welcome our horses and riders back to the park!

🥪 We will not have a food vendor on-site this year so please make sure to pack snacks and plan ahead.

📆 The show is now full and entries have closed. If you missed out on this weekend’s show, don’t worry! We’ll be back for more fun on August 22-23 and would love to have you join us.

It’s that time again… time for our next Hunter/Jumper show this weekend! Here are a few important reminders:

🚗 We need volunteers! Particularly on Saturday, we’re looking for two adults to take the 6-11 am shift to direct parking. We have Saturday-only stalls for those interested in volunteering. Don’t forget - you need those volunteer hours for year-end awards!

🍕There’ll be no on-site food so make sure to pack snacks for the day.

📝 Make sure you’re a member! If you haven’t already, sign up for your LWSC membership so you’re eligible for year-end awards and a variety of other community benefits.

After really worrying that we wouldn’t have enough volunteers to run ring 2 (Trail and Over Fences) yesterday at the English/Western show people really stepped up! As a friend said, there are 4 people over 60 trying to do all the heavy lifting at this show. I’ve been seriously considering cancelling Ring 2, but I know it’s popular. But yesterday? Yesterday was amazing. My amazing assistant manager, Senja Yakovleff was at the show setting up the office, and by the time I arrived, David Yakovleff and Natalia Yakovleff had all the jumps, trail setup and tents out and delivered out to the appropriate places! My relief and gratitude was immediate! Thanks so much to David and Natalia! They really saved the day.

The day got even better when, in addition to all the familiar and (many) new faces in Ring 1, we had 2 Hunter/ jumper trainers bring riders to play in both rings. The Hallman-Luhn family of Equidae Farm, and Sarah Moulton of Harmony Hill came for the jumps, but ended up having fun doing new things such as showmanship and working on the Trail course. And they really stepped up volunteering to help adjust the courses, change over from trail to over fences and putting equipment away. Many hands truly make light work.

Thanks again for all the people who stepped up and made this day happen. And to our 2 volunteer ring stewards who showed up at the announcer stand when we made the announcement that we needed one, and my friend, Lee Smith, who I roped into running ring 1. A dedicated night person, she got up early and joined the show, fueled by coffee.

My point is that these are volunteer organizations, and that the divisions and classes we offer happen because members, friends and family jump in to help. So if you need to get your volunteer hours in, come help at some of the smaller events at the park. The English/Western Shows, Trail Obstacle Days, and the Prize Rides. These events need volunteers just as much as the bigger events, and you just might end up having a lot of fun, and learning something new.

I’ve always said I will continue to run these shows as long as I had enough volunteers. I was really starting to worry this year, but yesterday proved to me that people will step up! Thank you to all.

The English/Western Show tomorrow (Saturday July 19) is still in need of a volunteer Ring Steward! We're light on volunteers this show. It you would like to get your volunteer hours in so you can qualify for year end awards, this is the time to do it, We need a morning Ring Steward (9am-1pm) and an afternoon Ring Steward (1pm to probably 4 or so), or you can do the whole day! Our judge is Sherri Spoltman, and she is wonderful, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. It's a wonderful opportunity. Please just show up, answer in the comments, or email me at [email protected].
