We were so honored to welcome Rasha as our featured alumna speaker at Elevate 2026. 💛

Rasha shared a powerful reflection on her journey from arriving in the United States as a refugee from Iraq to discovering her strength and voice as a woman and pursuing her dream of becoming a pilot.

Rasha earned her bachelor’s degree in 2022 with WWIN’s support and is building the life she imagined for herself while challenging expectations and showing other women what’s possible.
“I know what it feels like to compare yourself to someone who seems to get it effortlessly. And I know how transformative it can be when, in those frustrating moments, someone meets you with patience instead of judgment.

I am proud to be the one telling another aspiring female pilot that she belongs in the cockpit—especially since women make up only about 7% of pilots worldwide. Believing in yourself when the odds are stacked against you is difficult, and hearing someone who was once in your shoes say “you belong” out loud can change everything.”
