Here’s a small glimpse behind the scenes of an installation week in the gallery. There’s no such thing as a normal day around here, because each exhibit brings its own unique installation needs. Thankfully, our gallery is supported by an incredible team of staff and volunteers who make this work possible, and allow us to practice hospitality for our wonderful artists by bringing their visions to life! Here, we’re installing Ellie McGinty’s year-long gratitude project titled “Teach Us to Number Our Days,” with two staff members and two volunteers working in spurts over two days to lay out nearly 365 library cards in a precise grid.
This exhibit - Body Forth - will be opening this Friday, September 4, with an opening reception from 5:30-9pm. We are SO EXCITED about this exhibit, and we hope you’ll join us to support and celebrate our exhibiting artists Annica Anderson Pamela Willhite and Ellie McGinty

It’s install day!!!! We always love getting to see a new exhibit coming together, and this one is no exception. Featuring the work of Annica Anderson, Pamela Willhite, and Ellie McGinty, Body Forth explores themes of embodiment, the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and living as the knit-together body of Christ.
Our opening reception is this Friday, September 4, from 5:30-9pm. Annica and Pamela will both be present, and we will be serving light refreshments. And be sure to mark your calendar for Friday, October 2, when we’ll be hosting an artist panel with all three artists!

Did you know that our gallery is actually part of a church? Four Chapter Gallery is an outreach effort of Christ Community KC, and is only possible through the generous support of our multisite structure. While our gallery is situated at the downtown campus, many of our other campuses have their own ways of engaging with beauty and supporting artists from all over the city.
One of the most widely anticipated outpourings of beauty is happening right now at our Leawood campus. Anne McDonald, a dear member of our Creative Community, received a calling from the Lord to create an exhibit titled “Who is this Man, Jesus?” and stepped out in faithfulness to see it through, alongside a phenomenal team of volunteers. The project took five years, covers 66 biblical stories pointing to Jesus, and includes contributions from a total of 44 artists.
If you’re in the Kansas City area, don’t miss this show. It opened at Christ Community’s Leawood campus this Sunday, and will be up through November 15. Open hours are the following Thursday evenings from 6:30-8pm:
- August 13, 27
- September 10
- October 8, 22
- November 5
