Camp Fire Heartland

At Camp Fire Heartland, our programs go beyond homework help and activities. We're more than an afterschool program. We're a place to discover your spark.

We focus on building meaningful relationships, encouraging youth leadership, connecting young people with nature, and creating spaces where every child feels welcomed and supported.

We meet kids where they are and celebrate what makes each of them unique.

💚 Because afterschool should be more than somewhere to go. It should be somewhere to grow.

It's not just building. It's learning in action!
When kids build, they're doing more than putting pieces together. They're practicing problem-solving, creativity, patience, and teamwork.

At Camp Fire Heartland, we believe play is one of the most powerful ways young people learn about themselves and the world around them.
The next time you see a child building something, remember: they're building skills for the future, too!

Sometimes the best camp memories need absolutely no explanation.
From silly faces to unexpected adventures, summer camp is full of moments that remind us how important it is for kids to simply be kids.

At Camp Fire, we believe laughter, friendship, and a little silliness are all part of growing up. What's your favorite summer camp memory?

Every kid has a spark, sometimes they just need the opportunity to discover it.
Afterschool gives young people the freedom to try new things, explore their interests, and figure out what makes them light up. Whether it’s art, STEM, sports, nature, leadership, or something completely unexpected, there’s always room to discover something new.

💚 Why does it matter? When kids discover what excites them, they build confidence, develop new skills, and learn more about who they are.

At Camp Fire Heartland, we’re here to help every young person find their spark and let it shine.

Fall is here, and there’s a whole new season to explore!
Changing leaves, cooler days, and time spent outdoors give kids new opportunities to slow down, get curious, and connect with the world around them.

At Camp Fire Heartland, connecting with nature is part of helping young people explore, discover, and grow. Sometimes the best adventures start with simply stepping outside.

🔥 What are you most excited to explore this fall?

Camps For Kids dropped in on Camp Fire Heartland in KCK to see what the kids were up to. This summer Camp Fire Heartland is serving up STEM opportunities for the campers. The day we visited, the kids were making paper mache planets. The campers researched the planets in our solar system, made posters promoting tourism to their planet of choice, and now were making the planets. "Ninja learning" was what the camp director called it — slipping STEM education into camp fun. To learn more about this day camp and how you can help support their program through the Camps For Kids Match CAMPaign, visit https://campsforkids.org/camp/camp-fire-heartland/.
