Metropolitan Energy Center Transforming energy use in America's Heartland since 1983 Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC) was incorporated June 6, 1983, as a nonprofit organization.

Our mission is to create resource efficiency, environmental health, and economic vitality in the Kansas City region – and beyond. Over the past three decades, MEC has partnered with individuals, businesses, and local governments to clean the air coming from thousands of buildings and vehicles, all while raising awareness to improve the air quality for our entire region.

Join us on June 14 at the Tivoli Cinema at the Nelson-Atkins Museum for an evening of climate action, community, and conversation.

The Risan Project presents the Cresta Alta Tour, featuring a screening of Risan Media's climate science and sustainability documentary, followed by a panel discussion with regional leaders working to advance clean energy and climate solutions.

We're proud to share that Metropolitan Energy Center Executive Director Kelly Gilbert will be joining the panel alongside elected officials, environmental advocates, and sustainability leaders from across Kansas and Missouri.
