TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF THIS ICONIC SILHOUETTE, FASHION GROUP INTERNATIONAL KC AND THE MUSEUM OF KANSAS CITY PRESENT: THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS AN EXHIBIT FEATURING ORIGINAL DESIGNS FROM 9 LOCAL KANSAS CITY DESIGNERS, EACH OFFERING THEIR OWN BOLD, BEAUTIFUL, AND UTTERLY UNIQUE INTERPRETATION OF THE LBD. FROM THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS THAT STARTED IT ALL TO THE VISIONS SHAPING ITS NEXT HUNDRED YEARS, THIS EXHIBIT IS PROOF THAT A LITTLE BLACK DRESS IS NEVER JUST A LITTLE BLACK DRESS.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Part One of The Longest Fashion Table — celebrating 100 years of Chanel’s Little Black Dress in true unforgettable fashion. If you couldn’t join us, don’t worry. The celebration isn’t over yet.

🖤PART TWO IS COMING — THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24🖤

This is where the story continues. In partnership with The Museum of Kansas City, all designer dresses will take center stage in a brand-new exhibit: FGI x The Museum of Kansas City Present: The Little Black Dress. Guests will tour the exhibit, hear directly from the designers on their inspiration, and then head to The Elixir for cocktails and after-hours beats — with a Signature Espresso Martini included.

Meet designer Whitney Manney | WHITNEYMANNEY Fashion|Textiles

A Kansas City, MO native, award-winning fashion & textile designer Whitney Manney graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2012 with a BFA in Fibers. With a desire to create art in a wearable format, Manney creates garments and textile designs under her independent label WHITNEYMANNEY.  Creating a narrative between color and pattern is a signature of Manney’s work, “My job isn’t done until everybody in the world believes fashion is art.”

Meet designer Stephanie McIntosh of Yet Luxxe | Yet Luxxe | Luxury Resortwear

Stephanie McIntosh is a Kansas City–based fashion designer and the founder and creative director of Yet Luxxe, an inclusive luxury resortwear brand created for the sensual soul. Known for expressive silhouettes, fluid movement, and intentional craftsmanship, she designs clothing that transforms the way a person feels—confident, elegant, and completely themselves.

McIntosh learned to sew at the age of six, beginning a lifelong relationship with clothing as both an art form and a powerful language of self-expression. As a self-taught designer, she creates through curiosity and experimentation, balancing precision with instinct and structure with ease.

Through Yet Luxxe, McIntosh presents a vision of luxury that is cinematic, inclusive, and deeply personal. Her work celebrates the body without restriction and invites each wearer to move through the world with freedom, presence, and intention.

Meet designer Nataliya Meyer of Lucia’s Sarto | Nataliya Meyer 🇺🇦🇺🇸

Growing up in Dnipropetrovsk (aka: Dnipro), Ukraine, Nataliya absorbed a classical education in the art clothing design, construction, pattern making, and professional sewing techniques from local colleges, as well as learning from local artisans. She was able to further hone those skills when she came to the Midwest and worked with numerous clothiers and designers. The combination of her formal college training and years of experience provided her the understanding of construction and design allowing her to evolve her own aesthetic.

As a child, Nataliya watched movies and wanted to be the beautiful lady in the red dress – enchanting, breathtaking, awe-inspiring. She always wanted to be noticed in a crowd. However, the luxury of a new dress and current fashions weren’t available, she was forced to be creative. So, Nataliya started using her creativity at a very young age, for her school clothes and more, ensuring she had unique clothes. She has always viewed the world through the lens of clothing, wherever she went, cataloging clothing looks in her head and sketching them when she would get home. That was then, this is now – now, after consuming generations of knowledge in design and fashion, Nataliya believes fashion speaks a language all can understand and she strives to share the language with everyone – it’s how she communicates. Nataliya thrives on creating the special “red dress” or ‘big wedding dress” feeling for each of her clients, no matter the occasion. Every occasion to her, is “the” special occasion for whomever she’s working with.

Classic, chic, refined, and elegant describe Nancy Petersen’s couture aesthetic.  Her original bridal, special occasion, and social gowns and dresses, and ladies tailored apparel, reflect this award-winning designer’s well-traveled, sophisticated and feminine point of view.  Nancy’s talent and experience is evident in each design and is an illustration of her bachelor’s degree in clothing and textiles, and comprehensive and extensive experience in technical design, product development, fit, and construction in ladies garment manufacturing.  From concept to completion, detail and process are top of mind to create a beautiful and expertly crafted garment that both flatters and pleases the lady who wears her designs.

April Madden is a clothing and costume designer based in Kansas City, Missouri. April produces one of a kind garments created from vintage and antique textiles from all over the globe. Working in films, commercials, TV, the performing arts as well as for celebrity clients, April’s ability to work quickly and skillfully under pressure has served her well. Each day brings a new opportunity to imagine something incredible and April embraces her work with a flare that is uniquely hers.

Amina Hood is a luxury milliner whose work is inspired by travel, architecture, and the art of everyday living. Known for her custom hat designs, she creates timeless pieces that blend artistry, craftsmanship, and effortless style, becoming part of her clients’ travels, celebrations, and personal stories. Her designs have been featured in Vogue and L’Officiel and exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

In honor of 100 years of Chanel’s Little Black Dress, we’ve invited these local Kansas City designers to create their own original interpretation of this iconic piece. Each will bring their unique perspective to a garment that’s remained timeless for a century, and you’ll be among the first to see their designs revealed on Friday, Sept 18th at Part 1 of The Longest Fashion Table.

Now here is the really cool part, and why The Longest Fashion Table is TWO PARTS! ✨We are so excited to be in partnership with The Museum of Kansas City for Part 2 of this event. On Thursday, Sept 24th, the designer dresses take center stage in a brand-new exhibit: FGI and The Museum of Kansas City Present: The Little Black Dress.
