The youth did an asset walk with Center for Neighborhoods along Troost yesterday meeting with some of the business owners and learning about city planning in urban areas. Shout-out to Equal Minded Cafe for opening up their space and sharing a little bit of their journey in business and as a community connector! They had a little coffee break moment to try a Chai Latte and well we have future coffee shop owners coming to a neighborhood near you soon...

Club KC is back this week! We have an amazing art and culture experience with Quez Beasley from 18th & Vine Arts Festival for our pre-teens 12-14 at Gregg Klice Community Center on Friday night from 6pm to 10pm and Saturday we have Trap & Paint with LaTonya Sherese the Trap & Paint Queen for our teens 15-18 at Southeast Community Center Saturday from 6pm to 10pm. Both are FREE registration is required and you can sign up in person the day of. If you have questions call ArtsTech 816-461-0201.

Does anyone like chicken fettuccine? Well our teens had a full day learning about scholarships and ending the day with a cooking class Concierge Living where they learned how to make fettuccine. It turned out very yummy and I wish you could smell the butter in the video.

What a week the teens had! From their first session with Center for Neighborhoods where they learned the difference between a neighborhood and homeowners association to selecting names for their own neighborhood for the next 5 weeks. They participated in a workshop with Y-Chat where they discussed violence and ways to address conflict, then they had their first cooking class where they made their own personal charcuterie bowl and pho with Concierge Living, we left the building and took the KC Streetcar for a trip to the Kansas City Public Library and grabbed a few books to read during the summer reading challenge and we ended with them having an opportunity to cash their first stipend check Bank Midwest. They had a very active week ☺️
