Jackson County MO CASA Jackson County CASA trains Volunteers to advocate for children in foster care due to abuse or neglect. Our mission is to be a child’s voice in court.

By 2025, we will serve 100% of the children in foster care in Jackson County. We recruit, train and support lay volunteers who act as advocates on behalf of the best interest of children in Jackson County, Missouri who have experienced abuse and neglect.

Right now, 330 CASA volunteers are speaking up for children in the Jackson County family court system. But more than half of the children we serve don't have a volunteer advocate by their side yet.

That's the gap we're working to close, and you can help amplify their voice.

Taco Tuesday, community, and a powerful promise to local children.

Volunteers and staff recently gathered at the CASA House, where President & CEO Angie Blumel welcomed Family Court Administrative Judge Mark A. Styles, Jr.
Judge Styles officially swore in 5 new CASA Volunteers, while our veteran advocates renewed their oaths right beside them. Together, they are making sure every child navigating the Jackson County family court system has a dedicated voice in their corner.

🍸 Clear your calendar for Cocktails for CASA on November 6.

If you haven’t attended the event before, you won’t want to miss out. Between the live music, the must-see auction items (including signed Chiefs items and luxury destination tickets), the refreshments, and great conversation, it’s truly a night to remember.

The most important part: proceeds help to ensure that every child we serve knows they are seen, supported, and worth fighting for.

Throughout the year, Jackson County CASA staff donate their time to other local nonprofits. Last week, after our all-staff meeting, we packed 50 Snack Bags for Metro Lutheran Ministry and hosted a jacket and coat drive to support MLM’s mission of helping local families break the cycle of poverty.

Meet Pete Kowalski, Board Chair at Jackson County CASA! For the past six years, Pete has helped guide our mission while serving as Vice President & General Manager of Client Services at Asurion. He was drawn to CASA for a simple reason: every kid going through a difficult time deserves someone in their corner. As he rolls off the Board, Pete is proudest of how much CASA has grown.

Outside of work, Pete spends his time with his wife and five kids, coaching their sports, cheering on the Royals and Chiefs, working out, and still playing a little rugby. Fun fact: as an accomplished childhood artist, his artwork was once featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated for Kids! He's also working his way through a 1,000-page Winston Churchill biography, which he says is fascinating and great for falling asleep.

Thank you for your service, Pete! While we will miss your leadership, we look forward to your continued advocacy and support.
