IRON: The Unsung Hero of Energy & Immunity

Iron is an essential mineral your body needs to make hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. When iron levels are low, oxygen delivery is reduced, which can lead to fatigue, weakness, frequent illness, and difficulty concentrating.

Why iron is important:
Iron helps boost energy levels, supports immune and brain function, prevents anemia, and plays a key role in healthy pregnancy and overall well-being.

Common signs of iron deficiency include:
Persistent tiredness, pale skin, shortness of breath, dizziness or headaches, cold hands and feet, and brittle nails or hair loss.

Top sources of iron:
Heme iron (easily absorbed): red meat, chicken, turkey, fish, and shellfish.
Non-heme iron (plant-based): spinach, kale, nuts, seeds, fortified cereals, eggs, lentils, beans, and tofu.

If you’re experiencing symptoms, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional and consider getting your iron levels checked.

At Omar Welfare Association (OWA), we care about your health and well-being. We want to raise awareness about Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), an infection of the female reproductive organs often caused by untreated sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. If left untreated, PID can lead to serious complications, including infertility, chronic pelvic pain, and ectopic pregnancy. Symptoms may include lower abdominal pain, fever, unusual discharge, or pain during in*******se. OWA encourages early testing, timely treatment, and safe practices to help protect reproductive health.
