Help us send the happiest birthday wishes today to ROCO trumpet, George Chase!! 🥳🎂 He's given us many laughs and smiles, so we hope his day is full of them!
A native of upstate New York, George studied at the Curtis Institute of Music, then moved to Houston to earn his graduate degree from Rice University. After Rice, he served as associate principal trumpet of the Symphony Orchestra of the State of Mexico in Toluca.
Back in the U.S., he's performed with the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, and more. He taught at the University of Houston Moores School of Music for nearly a decade, and he's served on several boards, including ROCO's. Today he performs with ROCO, the ROCO Brass Quintet, and Boomtown Brass Band, and teaches at the University of St. Thomas and his home studio.
When he's not making music, you'll find George gardening, drinking coffee, reading, eating gumbo by the bowlful, and battling fire ants. He lives in Woodland Heights with his wife Vanessa, a pianist and author, and their two rescue dogs: Trouper, a 110-pound Great Pyrenees, and Chesney, a very scrappy-looking mutt.
