Because Houston doesn't just need more connections, it needs the right connections.

A collaborative network is intentional about bringing together the right people, organizations, resources, and expertise to address community needs more effectively. It moves us beyond simply knowing who's doing the work, to strategically connecting those who can accomplish more together.

Houston has thousands of churches and cross-sector organizations, some thriving, some struggling. There are already alliances, networks, and coalitions helping partners collaborate. But none that bring everyone together on a cross-sector, city-wide basis.

That takes a "meta-network." And that's exactly what Houston Impact Network is building.

Houston is growing. But growth alone doesn’t mean flourishing.
In 2025, Houston had the second-fastest growing economy in the country, while also facing the highest rate of poverty.

That contrast tells an important story. The needs across our city are vast. But so are the resources, organizations, churches, leaders, businesses, and people ready to respond.

The challenge is connection. So we built a network designed to make it happen.
A city-wide network that better connects needs with resources, moving people from isolated efforts to collective impact.

The Facts: A city council member knows exactly which neighborhoods and organizations are struggling, while churches throughout the district have volunteers, facilities, relationships, and resources that could help.

The Problem: They’ve never been in the same room. Disconnect can lead to duplicated efforts, missed opportunities, stretched resources, and leaders feeling like they have to carry the burden alone.

The Answer: Houston Impact Network is about: connection! We bring everyone to the same table so churches, nonprofits, city leaders, and community partners can align around the needs of the city and respond together.

We don't need everyone doing everything. We need everyone connected.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for a city is connect the people who already care about it.

If you watch the news, it's easy to believe that bad news is the only news. But that's not the Houston we see. Every day, we are in the trenches of our community, in neighborhoods, churches, nonprofits and schools, where people are choosing compassion over indifference, collaboration over competition, and hope over hardship.

Those stories deserve to be told. That's why we're launching a recurring series celebrating the people, partnerships, and moments that are making our city stronger. Because hope isn't hard to find in Houston. Sometimes, it just needs someone to shine a light on it.

August Spotlight: A coalition of Houston nonprofits has launched the Land and Legacy Project in Kashmere Gardens to help families keep inherited homes that might otherwise be lost because of complicated legal issues. Through free legal assistance, education, and community outreach, the project is helping preserve generational wealth and strengthen neighborhoods from within.

We kept seeing the same challenge. Organizations across Houston were doing incredible work. Churches wanted to help. Community leaders cared deeply. But too often, they were working in parallel instead of together.

So we created a solution. Flourish Forums.

Not to host another event but to create a space where challenges become shared opportunities.One example?

During a Flourish Forum conversation, leaders from Star of Hope shared a challenge they were facing. While their graduates were receiving housing support, job training, and other essential services, many still lacked the long-term, Christ-centered relationships needed to sustain lasting transformation. They recognized that skills alone weren't enough, people also needed encouragement, guidance, and someone who believed in their future.

That conversation sparked collaboration. Together, leaders helped shape what became the Pevoto Mentoring Program, a ministry built around long-term mentorship, community support, and helping Star of Hope graduates transition successfully into independent living. That's the heart of Flourish Forums.
We don't just gather people in a room. We create space for ideas to become partnerships, for partnerships to become action and for action to create lasting impact across our city.

Earlier this week we shared our new name. Today, we want to share the reason behind it.

Over the years, we've discovered something.
Houston isn't lacking compassionate people.
Houston isn't lacking incredible churches.
Houston isn't lacking nonprofits, businesses, or civic leaders who genuinely want to make a difference.

What's often missing is connection.
Often organizations are solving the same problems without knowing who else is working nearby. Resources go unused. Needs fall through the cracks. Opportunities for greater impact are missed, not because people don't care, but because we're working in isolation. We believe flourishing happens differently.

It happens when churches, nonprofits, businesses, civic leaders, and neighbors choose collaboration over competition. When relationships replace silos. When information flows. When resources are shared. When everyone moves in the same direction.

That's why we became Houston Impact Network.
Our role isn't to be the hero of every story. Our role is to be the backbone, strengthening the relationships, trust, and infrastructure that help others do what they do even better.

Because the Body was never meant to function disconnected.
Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, more flourishing Houston.
