This month, Miracle turns 17. 🥹🩷

When she came into the rescue, she was estimated to be 12–13 years old. One of SSR’s very first seniors. She had a giant tumor in her throat, and we had no idea how much time we were going to get with her.

We just knew we loved her. Immediately.

And somehow, all these years later, she is still here.

Our Miracle. Our Miri. Our Miribell. Our matriarch.

She’s always been a road dog — happiest in the car, going anywhere as long as she gets to come. She has spent her entire life hilariously indifferent to other dogs. Big dogs, little dogs, tiny dogs… she simply does not care. She has never once gotten into a disagreement.

She did argue with a cat one time. Marcía Kidwell-Gharib
The cat won. 😆

Now she sleeps later. She moves slower. She’s grumpier. She’s heavier. And every single one of those things feels like a privilege to us.

Because we weren’t promised this much time.

That’s the thing about senior rescue. Sometimes you bring them home thinking you’re giving them their final chapter… and they end up giving you years of your life you never knew you were going to have!

So during Pit Bull Awareness Month, I want to celebrate my girl.Seventeen years old.

Still here.
Still loved beyond words. 🩷

The old dogs are worth it.
The pitties are worth it.
Every extra day is worth it.

Oh, we love you so.

💔 IF WE CANNOT WORK TOGETHER, THEY SUFFER. 💔

Some days are just devastating. We were just emailed about more dogs dumped, abandoned, starving, sick, terrified — waiting for someone to care.

THEY WERE DUMPED - their only shelter is a storm drain.

WE WANT TO HELP - but we cannot keep doing this alone.

We need rescue partners, fosters, financial sponsors. Shares. We need people willing to step in instead of scrolling past.

COMMUNITY. RESCUES. WHERE ARE YOU?? CAN YOU HELP? PLEASE. 🙏

We are a couple people doing the absolute best we can, but there are more animals in need than we can physically or financially carry, and it completely breaks us!

If you can foster — step up.
If you can sponsor — step up.
If you can share — SHARE.
If another RESCUE ORG can help — PLEASE REACH OUT.

Because without all of us working together, dogs like these are the ones who pay the price. 💔

🌸 ROSY POSIE UPDATE! 🌸

Our sassy little Rosy Posie is doing SO well, and we could not be more thrilled for her! 💕 This gorgeous girl is a staffy mix, and she has personality for DAYS. Sweet, spunky, beautiful—and very aware of it. 😂

Rosy will soon be fully vetted and available for adoption, and we cannot wait for her to find the family she was meant for.

Every happy update like this is possible because people choose to help. We cannot rescue without fosters, donors, supporters, and the people who send supplies when we need them most.

If you’d like to help us keep saying YES to dogs like her, our donation links and Amazon Wishlist are below. 🐾💗

Absolutely — here’s the Nova update with your links added:

Sweet Nova update 💕🐾

Nova is continuing her vetting and is definitely on a skin-healing journey, but we are SO happy to say she’s looking better with each passing day. Between her skin meds, lots of TLC, and of course her adorable little jammies, this girl is finally getting some relief. 🥹

And as if she couldn’t get any sweeter — Nova is super cat-friendly and truly one of the gentlest, sweetest girls. We are so proud of her progress and grateful she’s getting the chance to heal, feel safe, and just be a dog again. 💗

Want to help Nova and the other animals in our care?
