September 19 is Puppy Mill Awareness Day, and Lone Star Humane Association is taking a stand across Texas with Rallies Against Retail Cruelty- bringing awareness to the puppy mill-to-pet-store pipeline and showing that Texans are ready for change.

At just 40 lbs, Canela is your perfectly pint-sized pittie package: compact, muscular (but doesn’t work out 😂) …she’s just a couch potato who wants to love you!

Canela is 6 years young, kid-friendly, fantastic out in public, and fully trained in all the basics — come, sit, stay, heel. 👏

But the best thing about her? Canela loves HARD. Once you’re hers, you become her entire world. She wants to be beside you, on the couch with you, going places with you…basically, wherever you are, Canela has decided she also has plans there. 😂

🚨 WELL. WE HAVE A CAT. 🚨

Everyone knows we don’t do cats. 😂 We are a dog rescue. Dogs are our lane, and we stay in our lane!!

But occasionally, a crazy cat lady finds a cat who needs help…and apparently we’re cat people for the day. 🫠

Meet Gremlin. 🖤

This tiny little creature showed up with something very clearly wrong with her eye, and we honestly don’t know yet what we’re dealing with. She has an appointment TODAY at 2:30 PM to have it looked at, and we’re hoping 🤞 it’s something relatively simple to treat.

The timing, however, is less than ideal.

We haven’t been able to fundraise much lately, rescue expenses don’t stop just because donations slow down, and now Gremlin has casually added herself to the payroll. 😂

So, before we head into her appointment this afternoon, we could really use a little help building a Gremlin Fund to cover her exam, diagnostics, medications and whatever treatment that eyeball decides it needs.

Even $5 or $10 adds up quickly when a bunch of people throw it together. 🤍
