ORY’s Star Baker is back at it this week— Melissa will be leading this Wednesday’s festivities in Hickory and hosting a PRIDE Cookie Party!! She’ll be bringing her wonderful homemade shortbread and showing everyone how to deck them out in the most colorful spectrums you can all dream up. Representation matters—even in our baked goods!

We’ve been talking about what June means to us at ORY the last few weeks— history, persistence, representation, community, activism, celebration, JOY. And sharing our favorite pastimes that incorporate all of these things. So this week, Melissa will be sharing one of her favorite traditions—cookie decorating with friends and fam—with our group once again to demonstrate these amazing values :)

Hello, Caldwell County friends!!
We’re so excited to be back at our growing ORY location in Lenoir this week! Our Executive Director, Kim, will be there leading the crew through an awesome hands-on art talk about LGBTQIA+ Icon Jean Michel Basquiat. A pioneer in his art forms, an ultimate explorer of self-expression, an incredible story-teller—we’ll see what kind of wonderful things we can learn from a glimpse at his life and style with a little multi-media art project based on his works. No experience or skill required, really!! We’ll have everything you need to play and participate. Or just hang out and enjoy with the group if art isn’t your thing. There’s *always* something to do at an ORY gathering :)
