We have the best volunteers! They help children read accurately and fluently!

Jim and Linda Nanney and Phyllis Smith trained as Augustine Literacy Project tutors in September 2021, and they have been tutoring striving readers ever since! In recognition of their commitment to students, we nominated all three for Catawba County United Way Giving from the Heart awards this year! Jim and Linda Nanney won the group award! We are so thankful for all three!

Join us for our monthly Tutor Information Coffee Hour and learn how you can make a difference in a child's life through the Augustine Literacy Project.

B Checker Quick Read 👀📖
Strategies matter most when students can use them in real reading!

In this activity, students use the B Checker to work through a quick word list, actively distinguishing b and d while practicing short vowel words along the way.

When mistakes happen, we don’t guess. We go back to the strategy. ✋

This is a simple way to help students build:
💛 accuracy
💛 independence
💛 confidence while reading
