Dear Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue supporters, adopters, and followers….we wanted to share an important and difficult update regarding the future of BRBR.
After extensive discussion and careful consideration, the Board of Directors has made the heartbreaking decision that 2026 will be the final year of operations.
This decision has not been made lightly, we like so many other rescues, have been experiencing declines in volunteer participation and foster homes, as the landscape of the rescue world has changed dramatically.
We have reached out to a local Charlotte rescue, The K9 Responder and Rick will be helping with the transition assistance.
We hope you will consider supporting him and the rescue. The K9 Responder started as an organization to train and provide rescued dogs as service dogs for veterans and first responders. They have evolved into a rescue for all dogs that can be adopted to approved families.
Please give them a follow and support on IG at thek9responder and on Facebook The K9 Responder.
23 years of service, thousands of dogs saved, lifetime friendships made, community give back service, and helping to make families complete…We Thank you ALL 💙🐾

Reba Update: Reba is settling into her foster home. She is now housebroken, and has done well with crate training with treat motivation 😊.
She did, unfortunately, test positive for heart worms and has started on treatment protocol of doxycycline.
Reba is sweet, loves to be with people, walks nicely on a leash, rides well in the car, and has done well with the resident dog(male). She enjoys her meals of kibble with homemade dog food, playing with toys, and taking naps.

Leo has been with us for 4 months and has come SO far. I recognize that his age works against him, but I gotta say, someone is missing out on a wonderful dog!

Leo is estimated to be 7-8 years old. He is a big boy, and is finally at his ideal weight of 85 lbs! He is a happy guy who loves nothing more than to be near his people. He is an absolute dream of a dog for the right family. Someone who is looking for a loyal, loving, sweet companion will be absolutely smitten by this guy!

He loves going for walks (but can be quite a puller), boxing with our dog Cinco, chewing on toys, laying in the sun, going for car rides and snuggling with humans. He is a dream at the vet's office as well.

I still think Leo would be best as an only dog due to his history of some food aggression with our other dogs. But, that should really not be a deterrent for his ideal adopter. He cohabitates just fine with our 2 dogs, we are just mindful of where everyone is when food is around. He has never shown any aggression to humans, including around food.

He sleeps all night on a dog bed, has never had a single accident in the house, and is crate trained. He can be a barker so I would not recommend apartment living for him.

Leo is a true sweetheart who seeks to please his humans. He has clearly made himself quite comfortable (I catch him relaxing or snoozing on his back more than any dog I've ever had), and deserves a family of his own.

Reba is doing her best to get Tyson to play…usually he is all about it, but today he wasn’t. It was great to see her not react, and just walk away. Progress in the making🩷
