Despite Mother Nature's weather-related challenges, the Rotary Club of Mount Holly could still provide nourishment and beverages to hundreds of local residents at SpringFest 2025 on May 3. Members described this as one of the most enjoyable events of the year, and the Rotary Club uses its proceeds to fund various community-related projects. If you'd like to learn more about the club and its Service Above Self motto, come and visit one of our meetings on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. at the Mount Holly Municipal Bldg.

December 16th was the long-awaited day for the Rotary Club's Annual Christmas for Kids event at the Mount Holly Municipal Building. The Rotary Club has sponsored this event for over 40 years. Other than Santa Claus himself, special guests this year included some outstanding students from the Mountain Island Charter School's Interact Club. The spirit of giving and serving others is why this event is so popular - with children and adults. Mayor David Moore, City Councilman Kenneth Reeves, and his lovely wife volunteered for the event.

On October 31, the Rotary Club of Mount Holly was honored to hear from Michelle Petty from Carolina Caring. Michelle placed a human touch on hospice and palliative care. Even though people are often uncomfortable talking about the subject, almost everyone has had a family member or close friend who has had cancer or another severe illness. At these times in our lives, we praise the work and compassion performed by Michelle and the many volunteers who pitch in to make a difference with service to others. To learn more about Carolina Caring, please see the contact information on the photograph.

The Rotary Club of Mount Holly displayed its "sweeter" side by giving away hundreds of pieces of candy at the Stowe Family YMCA's Annual Trunk or Treat event held at the "Y" on 10/25/2024. Rotary's motto is "Service Above Self" and making a child smile - which is not hard when giving away candy - made it a fun and enjoyable evening for Rotarians.

On 10/17/2024, Rotarians from Mount Holly met at the Muddy River Distillery due to early voting in the Municipal Building. They listened to a sobering presentation by Kim Elmore, Executive Director of Cancer Services of Gaston County, Inc. Kim shared that since 1977, Cancer Services has been providing programs and services free of charge to people living with, through, and beyond cancer. Programs like those offered by Cancer Services make Gaston County a nice place to live. If being of assistance to Cancer Services appeals to you, please get in touch with Kim at [email protected]. Also, a very special shout-out to the fine folks who run the Muddy River Distillery. If you haven't visited there yet, make a point to go by and see the fabulous restoration of this historic building. Food and beverages are available, of course.
