🏠 Transform your household habits into sustainable practices! On Tuesday, June 16 at 7pm, Waste Free Greenwich teams up with Perrot Memorial Library for an evening dedicated to transforming your household habits into sustainable practices.

This collaborative webinar offers a comprehensive guide to a zero-waste lifestyle, covering everything from smart shopping 🛍️ and textile 👚 longevity to mindful eating 🥦 and expert recycling ♻️.

The program highlights the library’s innovative Library of Things, a collection of borrowable tools, technology, and gadgets that promotes a "borrow instead of buy" philosophy to reduce waste and save space.

Complementing this resource, a series of four expert-led sessions will provide actionable strategies for every room in the house:

🧼 Conscious Consumers, Substitutions, and Waste: Maggie Clayton shares how to harness your purchasing power to phase out plastics and transition to less toxic, waste-free alternatives.

🧵 Repair, Refresh, Rewear: Meg Hadley Zimmerman demonstrates simple techniques to alter and mend clothing, helping you extend the life of your wardrobe and combat textile waste.

🍎 Even in the Kitchen, You Can Make a Difference: Registered dietitian nutritionist Janet Levine examines the link between our food choices and the environment, offering practical tips for a more sustainable kitchen.

♻️ Ask the Waste Wizard: Recycle Right: Julie DesChamps helps you master the art of sorting to ensure your recycling efforts are as effective as possible.

Registration is required. Please note: When you register, you will receive the Zoom meeting login information in your confirmation email. Keep this information handy for the night of the program.

🌊 Small Actions, Big Data at Greenwich Point!

Huge thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who joined the Live Like Luke Beach Cleanup!

While honoring Luke Meyers’ legacy, our community uncovered a sobering reality: 9 out of the top 10 pollutants found were plastic. 🥤🚫

From bottle caps to food wrappers, the data is clear—our "disposable" culture is hitting our shores hard. This isn't just trash; it’s evidence.

These findings were submitted to the Ocean Conservancy to help fuel the fight for stronger legislation against single-use plastics.

The Top Culprits:
• Plastic pieces (The #1 offender)
• Food packaging & wrappers
• Bottle caps, straws, and plastic bottles

Let’s turn this data into change. Together, we’re protecting our coastal heritage, one piece of plastic at a time. 💙
