GOOD NEWS: The Greenwich Board of Selectmen voted this morning to approve a diverse slate of flags that are approved to be flown at Greenwich Town Hall this year. And yes, the slate includes the Pride Flag 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Another heartbreaker, this time in Enfield. This all started in Boston, when a Christian group asked to fly a Christian flag at Boston’s City Hall and was refused. The Christian group sued, and won at the Supreme Court.

Now, CT towns are working to avoid similar lawsuits. The way to do this is to clearly define what flags can and cannot be flown on town property. Some towns are going in an extreme direction: Darien decided that no flag other than the US flag and CT state flag can fly. Enfield added in the POW/MIA flag, excluding any other flag in a 6-5 vote on Monday.

We’re proud to see that is choosing a different way. Our flag policy includes an annual slate of flags for the public to discuss, and for the Board to vote on. Many flags are included in this year’s slate (including the Pride flag) in order for different communities within Greenwich to be represented and to celebrate throughout the year. This is leadership, and it’s disappointing that Enfield couldn’t have been as thoughtful or creative.

we stand with you, and even if you can’t fly your flag at Enfield Town Hall, celebrate wherever and whenever you can. Tell us where and when, and we’ll join you. ✊🏽❤️🌈

Fairfield Schools Superintendent Michael Testani canceled an author’s visit to 3 Fairfield schools because of a parent complaint about the content of the author’s book.

The response to that decision was quick and LOUD. Fairfield parents do not support book banning. They welcome authors of different backgrounds and experiences because they know diverse stories only strengthen their children. Now, Michael Testani has invited the author back. But this has been handled so poorly, it hardly feels like a victory.

Meanwhile, author will be reading at today at an event that was completely booked almost instantly. Excited for him to see how welcoming the Fairfield community actually is. Love wins, friends. ❤️🌈

We’ll give you one guess what “a parent complaint about content” was about.

Note to the radical extremist book banners: the LGBTQ community isn’t going anywhere. Our stories can and will be told, we will live our lives proudly and unabashedly, and you cannot avoid us or banish us. When you try, you only make us stronger. And louder.

Sending our love to and the Fairfield community. Ask yourselves if one parent can wield this much power, how much power do you all have together?

ICYMI: the Greenwich Board of Education is deadlocked on electing a Chair. After multiple votes, no Democrat has voted for the Republican candidate, Karen Kowalski.

Why? We don’t know them and haven’t asked, but we have to assume it might have something to do with Kowalski’s infamous appearance on Newsmax. We’ll give you one guess which community was the topic of discussion during that segment..

Because of the deadlocked vote, the Republican-controlled Board of Selectmen will now choose the chair.

Elections have consequences, friends. ❤️🌈✊🏽🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
