🌳Research shows that trees can help create calmer environments where students can concentrate, manage stress, and stay motivated. Greater tree cover at schools has also been linked to stronger academic outcomes.

Last fall, GTC planted 13 Connecticut native trees at Glenville School, including several oak species that provide shade and support birds, insects, and other wildlife.

We’re excited to continue bringing trees to Greenwich schools, with our next planting planned for Parkway School this fall. 🌱

🌳A big thank you to Dr. Neil Pederson and our co-partner, The Town of Greenwich Conservation Commission, for a wonderful lecture on Eastern Old-Growth Forests.

Attendees enjoyed a fascinating evening exploring what makes an old-growth forest, how scientists identify them through clues such as evidence of past logging, and why these remarkable forests are so important today.

Dr. Pederson ended on an encouraging note, explaining that old-growth forests are being discovered and documented more than ever before—and that they continue to teach us about the natural world. 🌲
