We are confident their unique experiences, insights, and expertise will advance our mission and our vision of a thriving Greenville.

Connie L. Carson serves as Vice President for Student Life at Furman University. She previously worked 22 years at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC in various roles, including: Assistant Vice President of Campus Services and Planning/overseeing auxiliary business units and master planning for the institution reporting in the Finance and Administration Division. She also served for many years as Director of Housing and Residence Life & Dining Services in the Student Affairs Division. Connie holds an MBA from Wake Forest University, an M.Ed. In Counseling, and two B.S. degrees in Biological Sciences and Science Education from North Carolina State University. She has served as president of the Association of College and University Housing Officers International as well as President of their Foundation. In Winston-Salem, N.C. she served as President of the board of a local non-profit, The Shepherd’s Center for Senior Adults. Currently, she is an elder and Clerk of Session at Fourth Presbyterian Church in downtown Greenville. Connie grew up in Charlotte, NC where much of her family continues to reside. Her family lived next door to the church, and thus the church family was the wide circle in which she played, learned and grew. Her faith has deep roots that have extended everywhere she has lived, worked, and served. Thus, she is confident of one constant…that God is always calling to do a new thing and to serve in new ways. She enjoys virtually all sports but especially those affiliated with NC State, Wake Forest, Furman and the professional teams in Charlotte and Raleigh. She is an active alumna of NC State University and has served on the Board for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and is a lifetime member of the Wolfpack Club. She is the epitome of a sports fanatic. She is an avid golfer, enjoying the peace of the mountains and the coastlines and all the golf courses that reside in each. And, of course, loves animals---you cannot be an NC State alum and not love animals.
Alan R. Marshall is an attorney at Dority & Manning and has been an active member of the Greenville community since 2004. He brings deep institutional knowledge to United Ministries, having previously served on the board from 2013 to 2020, while acting as Chairman for two terms in 2016 and 2017 during the merger between UM and GAIHN. Outside of his professional and civic
commitments, Alan is an engaged member of Buncombe Street Methodist Church. He and his wife, Kathy, live in Greenville with their three sons, Jacob (rising senior at Greenville High), Wade (rising sophomore at Greenville High), and Lane (rising 5th grader at Summit Dr Elementary).
