Project HOPE Foundation’s mission is to serve individuals living with autism by: helping families, opening minds, promoting inclusion, and expanding potential. Starting in 1997, we have served thousands of individuals.

With the current rate of autism of 1 in 54 children, our services are more critical than ever. Project HOPE Foundation currently serves across ages, across the spectrum, and across services. We have four core programs: (1) We provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to 220+ children daily; (2) We serve 100+ students in our own autism-specialized school and in other local public/private school; (3) We support 20+ adults through day programs, job support, social groups, and in our own digital t-shirt printing business; (4) We offer workshops and trainings to the community, building support for the autism population. We have 8 campuses in Anderson, Greenville, Greenwood, Landrum, Pendleton, Spartanburg, and Woodruff. Leadership
Project HOPE Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization since 1996, continues to be led by its founders, Lisa Lane and Susan Sachs, both mothers of sons with autism. Lisa and Susan serve as co-Executive Directors of Project HOPE Foundation. Project HOPE Foundation is fortunate to have an active, involved Board of Directors from across Upstate South Carolina. Funding
Project HOPE Foundation is funded through fees-for-service (private pay, insurance, and PDD Waiver), fundraising events, grants, and donations. We have two major fundraising events: the Evening of Hope Gala in May and the Hope Invitational Golf Tournament in September-October.

Today at Hope Academy, our students had the opportunity to explore a variety of hobbies during our Hobby Fair!

Students were exposed to new experiences, skills, and passions they may not have discovered otherwise.

Exploring a variety of hobbies is critical because it helps students develop new interests, social connections, and find meaningful ways to enjoy their free time.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and took the time to demonstrate and share their hobbies! Your willingness to create these experiences made such a meaningful impact, and our students truly enjoyed learning from you all!

One of the coolest parts of social development is seeing autistic students connect with other people in ways that are meaningful to them!

In this video, one of our teachers showed a student how to pull a prank.
Learning a skill with one person is one thing. Being able to transfer it to a different person can be much harder for students on the spectrum. Seeing that happen in real time is so exciting!

Sometimes growth looks like worksheets and grades… and other times it looks like laughing together over a shared joke 😄

Prosody is the rhythm, tone, and emotion in the way we speak.

Some autistic people struggle with prosody, which can sometimes make it harder to express emotion the way they intend or for other people to correctly interpret their feelings.

For this challenge, our participants had to say “Are you serious?” in completely different tones of voice including angry, disappointed, flirty, and heartbroken 😂

We love creating opportunities to practice social communication skills in ways that are engaging, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable.

One of our favorite parts of the week is Snack Shack! 🍿

Snack Shack is a small store run by our adult clients where staff members can come shop for snacks, drinks, and treats during the day.

It allows our clients help stock shelves, organize items, take inventory, handle money, make change, greet customers, and practice communication skills.

Around here, growth and connection are always on the menu! 😅🥤

If you’ve recently placed an order with Printed by Hope, first of all…thank you!

The response to our social media has been incredible, and the orders have been coming in faster than ever.

Behind every single one of those orders is a small but mighty team of autistic adults who are doing something that the statistics say most of them never get to do. Around 92% of adults with autism are unemployed. Our team is part of the other 8%.

Printed by Hope is our digital shirt-printing operation housed at our Woodruff Campus, where participants practice a variety of job skills including sorting shirts, running printing machines, managing inventory, and doing janitorial tasks.

Our adult learners are compensated for their time because we believe that learning job skills IS work, and work deserves a paycheck.

Printed by Hope operates inside a therapeutic clinic and our small team has been working really hard to keep up with the surge of orders!

Each completed order represents hours of real work by real people who are building skills, and moving toward independence. Thank YOU for making that possible!
