Last week, we were proud to support Kent County Veterans Services at its annual Homeless Veteran Stand Down at Millennium Park. The event brought together nearly 170 local veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, providing access to free food, clothing, hygiene kits, haircuts, and other valuable resources — as well as an opportunity to connect with fellow veterans and community organizations.

We distributed more than 100 boxes of food and connected veterans with information about our programs and services.

We’re grateful to Veterans Services and all of the community partners who came together to support those who have served our country. It was a meaningful reminder of what we can accomplish when our community comes together with compassion and a shared commitment to helping our neighbors!

We are hiring a Weatherization & Housing Specialist I to help improve the energy efficiency, comfort, and safety of homes throughout Kent County. In this role, you’ll conduct residential energy audits and inspections, assess energy efficiency and indoor air quality, coordinate with homeowners and contractors, and spend time working in the field throughout the community.

Havana Nights at El Centro! 🌴🕺

Music, dancing, great food, and even a little prom royalty made for a morning to remember at our annual Senior Prom! We recently welcomed adults aged 60 and older for a Havana Nights-themed celebration filled with friendship, fun, and plenty of time on the dance floor. 🎶

Guests enjoyed live music and a delicious meal prepared from scratch by our on-site chef before two El Centro regulars were crowned Prom King and Prom Queen! 👑

For more than 20 years, El Centro has been a place for older adults to gather, connect, and build community—and days like this show exactly what makes it so special. 💙

El Centro is open Monday–Friday from 9 a.m.–1 p.m., with a hot, made-from-scratch lunch served at 11:45 a.m.

We’re looking for a kitchen volunteer to help prepare meals for our Home Delivered Meals program!
