This week's Brown Bag Decorating Month theme is Kindness Counts.

A few kind words can make a big impact. Share an encouraging message, a thoughtful comment or even a simple doodle to bring a touch of love to a Sack Supper.

Some favorite messages include:
🌟 You're a star!
💭 Dream big!
🤘 You rock!
💖 You are loved!
✨ Keep being awesome!

This summer, these two young changemakers turned thoughtfulness into action by collecting donations for Kids' Food Basket. They used the funds to purchase supplies, then rolled up their sleeves and packed 120 Supper Packs for kids in their community. We love seeing this kind of youth advocacy in action! Thank you for sharing your kind hearts and showing that anyone can make a difference!

Today is International Subscription Day!

Instead of holding on to that streaming service, magazine or subscription box you no longer use, we invite you to consider canceling it and donating that monthly fee to nourish the future of West Michigan. Become a Sack Supper Club member when you sign up to make a monthly gift, joining a passionate group of individuals who care deeply about healthy food access.

Today, don’t miss the opportunity for your generosity to go even further!

Join the Sack Supper Club by midnight tonight, and our friends at Barber Ford will match your monthly gift for the entire year. That means a $25 subscription becomes $50, enough to feed a child for the entire month, every month this school year.

One of the best things about decorating brown bags is that anyone can do it! From preschool artists to retirees, every decorated bag delivers encouragement, joy and a reminder to a child that the community cares.

A simple drawing or kind message may seem small, but for the child receiving it, it's a powerful reminder that they are seen. Get involved this Brown Bag Decorating Month as together, we add a touch of love to 150,000 bags! 🖍️

This year alone more than two million healthy evening meals have been served to children across West Michigan because everyone deserves access to fresh, nourishing food. But the work goes beyond Sack Suppers. Through hands-on agriculture experiences and educational programming, Kids’ Food Basket is helping learners of all ages understand where their food comes from, how it’s grown and why it matters. Together, we are planting the seeds for lifelong healthy habits.

This impact is fueled by a caring community of donors, volunteers, partners and staff, led by President and CEO Bridget Clark Whitney. Today, we celebrate Bridget's recognition as one of Crain's Grand Rapids Business' 2026 Who's Who honorees! We are grateful for Bridget's leadership, passion and vision for building a healthier future for children in West Michigan. 🫶

Healthy kids starts with strong, local roots.

October is Farm to School Month. We are honored to connect kids with local food and education about why it matters. When children understand where their food comes from, they build lifelong connections to healthy habits, local agriculture and their community.

Good food. Good Health. Good Future. It all adds up!

Have you been sipping your favorite energy drink this fall? You might have been supporting KFB without even knowing it!

Through the rest of October, a portion of sales from J&H Family Stores' Alani Nu beverage promotion benefits KFB. We are so grateful to everyone who has participated so far, and if you are just hearing about it, there is still time to stop at your favorite J&H Family Store and stock up.

A special thank you to J&H Family Stores for making it easy to turn an everyday purchase into meals for local kids. Cheers to good food, good health and good futures!

Recently these students from Holy Spirit School visited KFB for a unique back to school field trip! They learned about the mission of KFB, took a tour and joined a volunteer shift, dividing bulk pretzels into smaller portions that were then packed into Sack Suppers.

We want to give a big shoutout and an even bigger thank you to these young volunteers for showing up and reminding us that we all have the power to make a difference.

Interested in bringing your students to volunteer? Field trip volunteer shifts are available for school groups in third through eighth grades. Educators are invited to learn more or sign up at https://loom.ly/jsw4rdE
