Curious what our poultry value chain in Mozambique looks like? Through agriculture training, Ebenezer equips young farmers with the skills they need to launch poultry businesses. Once a farmer graduates from Ebenezer, they receive a loan from AfricaWorks Mozambique for chickens, a coop, and additional equipment. New Horizons Mozambique serves farmers along the entire value chain with a hatchery, feed mill, and meat processor.

Recognizing that her community sought ways to make healthier lifestyle choices, Esther began creating organic juice blends in her Paterson, New Jersey home. But Esther struggled to manage her finances. Plus, she wanted to integrate faith in her business and share that love with her community.

Her search led her to RENEW Life Center, a local partner of Partners Worldwide, where she attended their financial literacy and microenterprise trainings. Equipped with new financial tools and an understanding of how business could reflect her faith in her community, Esther renamed her business “Known by Fruits,” after Matthew 7:20.

Esther plans to expand her business and continue providing her community with ways they can improve their wellness. She also dreams of running multiple businesses—including in the Dominican Republic, where her parents are from. “I want to see how I can help those in need over there,” Esther said.

The Seed 100 initiative helps our partners in rural farming communities develop sustainable solutions to poverty. Partner organizations begin with thorough market research to identify gaps and validate ideas, then implement small-scale pilots, allowing for adjustments and learning.

Once a model demonstrates viability, partners can pursue additional investment for scaling their impact. This evidence-based approach increases the likelihood of identifying and investing in truly viable and sustainable business models.

In Central America, our coffee value chain empowers rural families to build thriving businesses, generate local employment, and create lasting opportunities for future generations.

Business training, technical assistance, and digital tools help farmers improve their beans at every step of the farming process. By collecting their harvests, local farmers can together open doors they couldn’t alone. Rural farmers now meet the requirements of international markets—bought for a guaranteed price.

For Ramon, that meant creating employment opportunities, improving his family’s quality of life, and sending his daughter to college.

What is a value chain? All the activities, services, and infrastructure necessary to bring a product from idea to market.

The basics of a value chain include input suppliers, producers, processors, and buyers—with value added to the product at every linkage. It’s the journey from wheat seeds to baked bread, raw cotton to graphic tees, and carrots to packaged soup mixes.

Partners Worldwide focuses on agriculture value chains—ranging from honey to poultry to rice. Through our Local Community Institutions and Business Affiliates, we strengthen and empower farmers along every link of the chain.

The result? Marginalized farmers connected to markets and equipped to make positive impacts in their communities.
