The Cook Arts Center and the Cook Library Center will be closed today, Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, June 22, as we kick off our summer programming!

Today we celebrate Alejandra's two year anniversary of working with GAAH! You may know Alejandra as the warm person who welcomes you when you walk into the Cook Library Center, but as our Cook Library Center Manager, she uses her natural leadership and organizational skills to keep our systems running smoothly. Angel’s got Sol! Angel and his family — mom Dulce, older sister Lluvia, some cousins, nieces, and others — all go to the Cook Library Center to learn together, create memories, and connect with their community. Dulce says Angel, who is autistic, has changed completely since they started coming to the library after school and over the summers. With the help of GAAH staff and the support of his family, Angel learned how to advocate for his own sensory needs, developed skills to keep himself safe, and has started talking about going to college someday. Angel y su familia — su mamá Dulce, su hermana mayor Lluvia, algunos primos, sobrinas y otros parientes — acuden todos al Cook Library Center para aprender juntos, crear recuerdos y conectar con su comunidad. Dulce cuenta que Angel, quien es autista, ha cambiado por completo desde que comenzaron a asistir a la biblioteca después de la escuela y durante los veranos.
