Congratulations to Phil Lohre, our October Volunteer of the month!

His advocate supervisor said, "He really is great at making a connection with the older male youth that are a part of the system. He is patient and understanding, giving them the space they need but always there to lend an ear or a hand!"

Join us for the Jefferson County Candy Crawl and the CASA Halloween Bash!
The Jeffco Candy Crawl is from 2:30 to 4:30 on October 29th in the Admin and Courts Building. There are also all-day trick-or-treat locations in the Jefferson County Complex.

We asked Abby, our September Volunteer of the Month, "What would you say to someone who is thinking about becoming a volunteer?"

If you have even a little interest in becoming a CASA volunteer, I’d encourage you to at least attend the training! The training gives you a pretty good idea of what you’ll be getting into and gives you more than enough information to get started on a case. It also gives you access to a lot of resources, for not just kids but the community in general. When I went into the training, I was a bit unsure of what I was getting myself into, but after meeting other people in the training group, as well as the CASA employees, I felt supported enough to follow through with a case (and it’s been extremely rewarding!).

Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Abby Siebert!

Abby was sworn in and started her first case in October 2025! She has built a close relationship with both her CASA youth and their parent. They bond over bike rides and their shared love of kittens! She has also been a great support for CASA outside of her case by helping with special events. Thank you, Abby, for your hard work and dedication!

What helps you overcome the hard moments of being an advocate?

"I actually had a tougher moment the other week. I try to think back on other positive moments that I’ve seen, remembering that the process isn’t linear. Your relationship might be going well, and then there is a blip that seems like it’s moving backward. But you have to look at the trend line over time. Putt Fore CASA is less than two weeks away!

We asked Elizabeth, our Volunteer of the Month—What inspired you to become a CASA?

"I felt like something was missing in my life, and I wasn’t giving back to my community. I’ve done a lot of volunteer work over the years, but when we moved away from my last position, I fell out of that habit. I wanted to give back on a personal level. I think there are a lot of places that have a widespread impact, but I also wanted something I could interact with on a personal level and grow those connections. When I looked online, I was moved by the stories from CASA volunteers across the county and decided to start the process."
