Support COFA's Free Kids' Turkey Shoot at Colorado Adventure Point!

Dear Friends of COFA,

On Saturday, November 14th, COFA (Christian Outdoor Fellowship of America) is hosting our annual Kids’ Paper Turkey Target Shoot event at Colorado Adventure Point (10455 W 6th Ave. Ste 150, Lakewood, CO). This exciting event is completely free for youth ages 8 to 15, providing them with a fun, safe, and structured environment to build outdoor skills and celebrate the Thanksgiving season.
This year, we have an incredible lineup of activities planned for the kids:

6-Station BB Gun Range: Kids will compete to win a frozen turkey, with 4 winners total (one for each age group). The shooting ranges will be fully manned by certified COFA hunter education instructors to ensure complete safety.
6-Station Rock Climbing Wall: A fun and challenging climbing experience.
5-Station Archery Lanes: For kids to practice and hone their bow-and-arrow skills.
Leather Crafts Room: A dedicated hands-on creative space for kids to make their own leather crafts.

To keep this entire event 100% free for our young participants and families—including all activities, materials, and prizes—we are seeking monetary donations from local businesses and friends by November 10th. COFA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, making your donation tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Your contribution will directly cover:

Rental of the Colorado Adventure Point facility
Event supplies: Paper turkey targets, leather craft materials, safety gear, and range setup.
Prizes and awards: The grand prize frozen turkeys and runner-up recognition.

Chain Breaker

Today's Scripture

“Should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” Luke 13:16, NIV

The woman in today’s Scripture had been bent over and unable to stand up straight for eighteen years. Jesus said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then He touched and healed her. Notice that the sickness came from the enemy. The good news is that Jesus came to free you from whatever has bound you. The Scripture says Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy—sickness, addiction, depression.

God was showing us that no matter how long you’ve been dealing with an illness, your time is coming. The Lord your healer has not forgotten about you. He has seen the pain, the heartache, the lonely nights. The medical experts may run out of options, but God does not run out of options. It’s not going to be natural; it’s going to be supernatural. It’s going to defy the odds. Now stay in an attitude of faith: “I am a child of God. I believe that Jesus is breaking every chain that is holding me back and healing is flowing through my body right now. I’m getting healthier, stronger, more energetic.”

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that I can know You as my savior, as my provider, as my healer, and as my chain breaker of any infirmity. Thank You that my chains are gone and I’ve been set free. I believe that every force that has been holding me back has been broken. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Why the Criticism?

Today's Scripture

But you, why do you criticize your brother? Or you again, why do you look down on your brother or regard him with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. Romans 14:10, AMP

It’s easy to be critical of someone when we hear what they supposedly said or did that we think is wrong or is something we don’t like. But how many times are we judging things prematurely, finding fault in someone without knowing the facts, without knowing the motives, without knowing the challenges, without knowing how they were raised or what they’re dealing with? Sometimes we’re critical of things we don’t understand. We form negative opinions when it’s actually not what it looks like. We don’t know the full story, and we assume things that may not be true. If we walked in that person’s shoes, most of the time we’d be more understanding, more compassionate.

Even if what we’ve heard is true, where is the mercy? Where is the grace to give people room to make mistakes, to not be perfect? Maybe God is dealing with them, maybe they’re going to make better decisions. Instead of judging them, talking behind their backs, why don’t you take that same time and pray for them? Be a part of the solution and not the problem.

“Father, thank You for freely giving me Your mercy that I might freely give it to others. Thank You for always calling me higher, to see others through Your eyes, and to have an understanding heart. Help me to not be critical and judgmental of others, to be part of the solution and not the problem. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

This Is the Victory

Today's Scripture

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4, ESV

You may be in a battle today, and things are coming against you in your health, your finances, or a relationship. You feel outnumbered. Thoughts will tell you, “It’s never going to change. You’ve been dealing with this for way too long.” It’s tempting to start complaining, living discouraged, talking about how you can’t overcome it. Don’t fall into that trap. Now more than ever you need to have a battle cry of faith. God is looking for people who speak faith in the midst of doubt, people who praise when they could be complaining, people who declare His favor in a famine. Don’t magnify the problems; magnify your God. Talk about His greatness. That’s how you’re going to reach your full potential. You have to go through the battles to become who you were created to be.

Now, sound the battle cry of victory, of faith, of praise. “Father, thank You that there is no one like You. Your mercy endures forever. This trouble is only temporary, and I know that victory is coming. I will overcome it by faith.”

“Father, thank You for being my God and making me into a brand-new creation in Jesus. Thank You that I have Your spiritual DNA and that I was born to overcome the world and live in victory. I believe that this is true, and I declare that I will triumph by the power of faith. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Calm and Quiet Your Soul

Today's Scripture

Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. Psalm 131:2, NKJV
King David faced constant dangers, enemy attacks, and betrayals. He had a lot of reasons to live worried, afraid, and panicked, but he gives us a secret to live above today’s noise—the bad news, the economic rumors, the divisiveness, our own worries. King David said, “I have calmed and quieted my soul.” On a regular basis, you need to quiet your soul. Still your emotions. Come back to a place of peace. That’s a powerful place. When the battle is all around you, thoughts tell you to panic, to worry and be afraid. That’s when you have to take charge and quiet your soul. The enemy would love for you to live noisy and troubled, but the Scripture says, “Be still and know that I am God.” This infers that if you’re not still, if you don’t quiet your soul, you’re not going to know He’s God. You’re not going to feel His presence and see His goodness as you should. The real battle is taking place in your mind. You have to make this decision: “I am quieting my soul. I will not fear.”

“Father, thank You that I can calm and quiet my soul, that I can be still and know that You are God. Help me to let go of the things that come against me and stop trying to change things over which I have no control. I declare that I’m going to stay in peace and know that You’ve got this. COFA’s Annual FREE Kids’ Paper Target Turkey Shoot, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Sat, Nov 14th

A free community event for kids on the Front Range and mountain towns.
It's that time of year; next month is Thanksgiving- can you believe it? Where has the time gone? The popular Free Kids Turkey Paper Target Shoot is on the books, and COFA invites you and your kids to enjoy a fun Saturday morning. Your kids don't have to compete in the BB gun target shoot; they can enjoy the rock climbing wall, the archery range, or leather-crafting. COFA volunteers supervise all events.

COFA believes in passing our values, skills, and outdoor pastimes to the next generation. A Turkey Shoot (targets only; no live birds involved) is a great way to do all three at once.

Kids ages 8-15 will have an opportunity to use a B.B. gun on paper targets to win great prizes, including a frozen turkey (must be present to win). Kids may arrive with their parents anytime after 9:00 AM, but no later than 12:15 pm to participate in the competition! Other activities include a climbing wall, archery, outdoor education experiences, leather craft making, and more!! Make a day of it!

How it Works

Kids will shoot a designated number of BBs at paper targets to see if they can win a frozen turkey. The scorers will add up the total number of hits near the bullseye to determine the winner. Boys and girls will be placed into age brackets (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15). A frozen turkey is awarded to the winner of each age category! Four prizes per age group! COFA provides the BB guns so everyone has a fair chance at shooting. We don't allow personal BB guns...just COFA's!

Who You Really Are

Today's Scripture

But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?” Exodus 6:12, NIV

Moses had God’s promise that he would deliver the nation of Israelite slaves from Pharaoh. But the Israelites were too discouraged through hard labor to listen, and Pharaoh refused. Moses’ words were met with resistance, and he made the mistake of immediately talking defeat. He was on the verge of letting his negative environment change his identity from deliverer to defeated. Fortunately, God spoke to Moses and promised again that by signs and wonders He would bring the Israelites to freedom.

You may be in an environment now that contradicts what God promised you. The circumstances look just the opposite of the dream He put in your heart. That’s a test. The enemy would love for you to lose who you really are, to see yourself as limited or a victim. You can let it change you, adapt to the environment, water down your dream, or you can say, “No, thanks. My environment doesn’t dictate my identity. I know who I am. I am a child of the Most High God, and I will become all I was created to be.”

“Father, thank You for the great and precious promises You have given me that will lead me to my best life possible. Thank You for the hope and encouragement You provide through Your Word. I refuse to settle for less than what You have called me to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Outlast It

Today's Scripture

“The LORD delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the LORD’s anointed. As surely as I valued your life today, so may the LORD value my life and deliver me from all trouble.” 1 Samuel 26:23–24, NIV

Sometimes the way you overcome a difficulty is to outlast it. For years, Saul was trying to kill David, who lived on the run, hiding and surviving in the wilderness, doing the right thing when it was hard. David had two opportunities to take Saul’s life, but he wouldn’t touch Saul because he knew God had anointed Saul. He let God be his vindicator and didn’t take matters into his own hands. Thirteen years after David was anointed by Samuel, Saul was killed in battle and David was made king. What took him to the throne wasn’t defeating Saul; it was the miracle of endurance. God sustained him.

But when we’re in the middle of the difficulty, it can be hard to see. Saul is still making your life miserable. The sickness hasn’t improved. Your child is still off course. You’re doing the right thing but the wrong thing is happening. That’s when you have to say, “Lord, thank You for sustaining me. Thank You for the grace for this season. I recognize You’re holding back the opposition. You’re giving me the power to endure.”

“Father, thank You for the promise that if I keep honoring You with an attitude of enduring faith, You will bring me through to victory. Thank You that I can tap into the staying power to outlast whatever is coming against me. I believe that You are with me and will bring me through this. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Your Time for Release

Today's Scripture

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Isaiah 61:1, NIV

There may be things that have you bound—a sickness, an addiction, an unexpected debt that won’t go away. You’ve tried to get free but nothing has helped. But God is about to step in and do what you can’t do on your own. It’s not too much for Him. He is saying to you what He said through the prophet Isaiah: “I’m announcing freedom for the captives. I’m announcing the good news of victory. I’m announcing that your time for release from darkness has come.” The sickness is not permanent. You are loosed from it. Depression is not how your story ends. You are loosed from it. You are loosed from the addiction, loosed from low self-esteem, loosed from the family turmoil. This is a new day, and God is doing a new thing. This is your time for release. You’re going to feel a supernatural strength, power that enables you to break bondages, favor that removes restrictions and catapults you ahead. You will rise higher, accomplish dreams, and reach the fullness of your destiny.

“Father, thank You that the power of Your declared blessing and favor over my life override anything that has me bound and imprisoned. Thank You that I can receive Your favor, freedom, and victory. I believe that Your supernatural power is breaking bondages right now. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Suddenly

Today's Scripture

Then the men of Judah came to Hebron, and there they anointed David king over the tribe of Judah. 2 Samuel 2:4, NIV

As a teenager, David was anointed by the prophet Samuel to be the next king of Israel, but he wasn’t made the king of Judah until he was thirty years old. In between, he spent years in the shepherds’ fields, then serving King Saul, then living and being pursued in the wilderness when Saul was trying to kill him. Saul was strong and healthy and had loyal followers. It looked as though David would be stuck for decades more. But just three days after David suffered his greatest attack from another enemy and hit his lowest point of discouragement, Saul was killed in battle, and the men of Judah made him their king. When every circumstance was coming against David, God suddenly thrust him forward into his destiny.

When you feel stuck and nothing’s changing, follow David’s example. Keep being faithful, don’t get bitter, keep excelling right where you are. Don’t let negative circumstances fool you. God knows how to accelerate your destiny. You could be just three days from seeing your greatest victory. God is going to get you to where He’s anointed you to be.

“Father, thank You that You are always working in my life to shape my character and prepare me for the next level You have for me. Thank You for the seasons of testing where You prove my faithfulness. I believe You are taking me higher to be used for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
