Molly was nominated for the HERO-WITHIN award by her school counselor at Central High School, who recognized her for overcoming adversity with grace and kindness.

At CBR YouthConnect, HERO-WITHIN, we connect with students and help them reach their goals. For Molly, that’s taking equine-assisted growth courses.- We partnered with Hope thru Hooves to provide this opportunity, providing a personalized, impactful experience. 🐴

✨HERO-WITHIN SPOTLIGHT✨🇫🇷
Vanessa was nominated for the HERO - WITHIN award by her school counselor and French teacher at Central High School. When her counselor heard about this opportunity, she thought of Vanessa immediately. Over the years, they have seen the hard work and dedication she puts forth daily as she overcomes life’s challenges. She is kind, respectful, and a joy to have at school.

At CBR YouthConnect, HERO-WITHIN is about meeting youth where they are and connecting them to opportunities that matter to them. For Vanessa, that’s the French Club trip to France this summer - we partnered with her French Teacher and parents to contribute to her fundraising efforts for the school trip. She is so excited to see the sights and get immersed in the culture. Stay tuned for updates about Vanessa’s Trip abroad.🥐🇫🇷✨

By partnering in this way, we celebrate resilience—working side by side with schools and trusted adults to unlock potential, open doors to opportunity, and champion young people's passions.

✨Hero-WIthIn Spotlight✨⚽
Kingston was nominated for the HERO-WITHIN Award by his Pueblo Central school counselor and soccer coach—two people who see firsthand the resilience he brings to his school community every day. Known for his positive outlook and uplifting spirit, Kingston makes a difference by showing up and encouraging others.

At CBR YouthConnect, HERO-WITHIN is about meeting youth where they are and connecting them to opportunities that matter to them. For Kingston, that’s soccer. With his Special Opportunity Grant, we partnered with his school and family to cover soccer fees, provide new cleats, and make sure he has the ball that rarely leaves his side.⚽

By partnering this way, we celebrate resilience—working with schools and trusted adults to turn potential into opportunity and keep young people’s passions moving forward.

"CBR YouthConnect hosted a Human-Animal Connection Career Fair at DSST Elevate Northeast High School, bringing students and local animal professionals together for a day of hands-on learning, meaningful conversations, and special animal connections. 🐾

Students had the chance to chat with local professionals, explore animal-related careers, and interact directly with both alpacas and dogs!

A huge thank you to Andrea Blocher and the alpaca team (Crazy Hair Alpacas), Drew Webster and the dog team (Behavior of Dogs), Jess Beaulieu (DU Animal Law & CO Parks & Wildlife Commission), and Mark Surls (Project Coyote), who helped make our Animal Career Fair such a memorable experience!

We’re so grateful for your partnership in inspiring the next generation of animal advocates! ✨"

🌟 HWI Spotlight: Cori 🌟

Cori’s story is one of quiet strength forged in uncertainty. When life shifted beneath his feet and he was forced to leave behind the familiarity of his old school, the change felt overwhelming. New hallways, unfamiliar faces, and the weight of a difficult period in his life threatened to define him. Yet even in those moments, Cori chose to show up—to listen, to learn, and to keep moving forward when giving up would have been easier. 💪✨
