It’s Giving Tuesday!
If you’re looking for a reason to give, we’ve got many tiny old very cute reasons for you!
Little Old Dog Sanctuary is a home based sanctuary/hospice for little old dogs (and the occasional big dog). We also take in dogs with life long special needs. Our dogs have their own 24/7 nurse mom (that would be me), complete run of the house, a visiting vet, lots of food, treats, patience, understanding, acceptance and soft love ( no tough love over here). We take dogs with every illness imaginable. Diabetes, cancer, seizures, dementia, heart worms, etc. We take dogs that are blind, deaf, paralyzed, incontinent, etc. We also take dogs with behavioral issues. We take them all.
We don’t rehome our dogs, they become permanent family members and live here for the remainder of their lives. They live IN our home as family members. We don’t utilize outbuildings or kennels. We have no staff, it’s just me, my husband Erik and our son. We are truly just a big happy family trying to provide a happily ever after for these old dogs.
We live in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Our dogs can wander the acreage, or stay inside in front of the wood burning stove. We don’t judge. This is their retirement, so whatever makes each dog happy is good with us.
We believe that it’s never too late to live happily ever after. But we couldn’t do this life saving work without your help. We rely on donations to be able to do what we do. The generosity of people like you who love old dogs and believe as we do - no old dog should die alone at a shelter.
We know this year has been tough financially for a lot of people. And unfortunately for a tiny organization like ours, donations are down, but needs are up. We are still here though. Still caring for these oldies, still providing 24/7 care, and we still really need your help.
This is definitely a labor of love. I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s not easy. The never-ending cleaning, the 24/7 caretaking (even if you aren’t feeling well), the worry over their health, the heartbreak and loss - over and over again, the sleepless nights, the constant anxiety over money. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I feel honored to be able to do what I do. If you’ve ever had an old dog, you understand what I’m saying. They are the purest form of love. Looking into an old dogs eyes makes all of the hard stuff worth it. I feel blessed to be here for them and help them transition from this life. No dog deserves to die at a shelter, especially the old ones, the sick ones, the broken ones. Your donation helps us to save seniors from that fate. You’re helping us to make the world a kinder, better place.
If you are able, please consider donating to Little Old Dog Sanctuary on this Giving Tuesday. Erik and I are so grateful for your support, but mostly all the dogs here are thankful.
There are several ways you can help. You can donate on our website (littleolddogsanctuary dot org) link in comments section. Or you can send funds via PayPal to [email protected], Venmo - littleolddog or mail a check to LODS, PO Box 1409, Conifer, CO 80433. We also have an Amazon wishlist (link on our website) and we love to get monthly canned food donations through Amazon or Chewys (we use Pedigree and Cesar). We are so grateful for our amazing, generous supporters! Thank you for all you do for the seniors!
