CureSearch's Ultimate Hike isn't your average endurance fundraiser. It's a weekend-long adventure where participants choose a distance that's right for them, whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned trail lover.

What makes it "ultimate" isn't the mileage. It's the collective impact created for kids with cancer.

This September, Team "Don't Lollygag!" will be on the Colorado Trail raising $40,000 for Ewing sarcoma research.

Today, we sent out a very special email to the Sam Schneider Legacy community with an exciting update for 2026.

Continuing the adventure Sam began, we are thrilled to announce that Team "Don’t Lollygag!" will take on the CureSearch Ultimate Hike this September, this time hiking the beautiful Colorado Trail. Our efforts will honor Sam while raising critical funds for Ewing sarcoma research.

Five years ago, Sam took his last breath. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel the weight of his absence, while also carrying the incredible light he brought into our lives.

Sam had a dream- to bring awareness to Ewing Sarcoma and to help find lifesaving treatments for kids like him. We continue to honor that dream as we navigate what life looks like without him physically here beside us. Because of this amazing community, we have raised nearly $300,000 to fund promising research, embraced meaningful career changes, and watched Jay graduate from college and step boldly into his adult life- milestones Sam would have celebrated with his whole heart.

This past year, we stepped back from fundraising events to reflect, to heal, and to listen for what truly comes next. Today, we feel ready to move forward again, grounded in love, guided by Sam’s courage, and committed to continuing his legacy.

We strive to live the way Sam wanted us to: with purpose, kindness, and hope.

Did you know that childhood cancer isn’t just one disease? It’s made up of many different types of cancers, each caused by unique genetic mutations that differ from adult cancers. That’s why research and awareness are so important—children need treatments designed specifically for them.

On May 17, Team Shenandoah for Sam is hiking 21 miles in the Shenandoah Valley in honor of Sam and all kids fighting cancer.

Last weekend, we had the incredible opportunity to tour Dr. John Lee’s research lab at UCLA and hear firsthand about his groundbreaking work on STEAP1 CAR-T cell therapy for relapsed Ewing Sarcoma.

Big news: Dr. Lee has already launched a clinical trial for Prostate Cancer using this therapy and is optimistic that a clinical trial for Ewing Sarcoma could begin this year!

This research is offering hope to families fighting this devastating disease, and we are beyond proud to help fund it through CureSearch. None of this would be possible without your support—thank you for being part of this mission!
