Conifer Rotary Club

Conifer Rotary Club The Rotary Club of Conifer is a volunteer service organization that supports causes that improve the quality of life for our community and the world.

[email protected] The Rotary Club of Conifer is a volunteer service organization that identifies and supports causes that improve the quality of life for people and their environments locally and internationally. We are one of more than 32,000 clubs and 1.2 million men and women world-wide that make up Rotary International. Rotary's purpose is to invite community leaders to provide huma

nitarian service, to encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to help build goodwill and peace throughout the world. Our Conifer Rotary club meets weekly for breakfast to learn about a variety of service vocations, to organize and plan our service goals and to engage each other as friends and colleagues. All Rotarians are committed to the idea of "Service Above Self" and volunteer to carry out this motto in their communities.

Thank you so much! With your help, we finished thinning for 30 feet on the northeast side of Pleasant Park Road from Broken Arrow to Silver Fox! If you drive past, you'll see a huge amount of firewood stacked up and ready to be taken by anyone who wants it. Enormous thanks to our professional tree felling volunteers, Joe Ford of Mountain Life Property Works (for his second volunteer day!) and Scott Halladay and Russ from Lisscojan Acres. Tom Landon went back Monday morning to pick up the last branches. Shirley's friends took most of the firewood from the previous section, so that's done too. I hope you had a chance to meet county commissioners Lesley Dahlkemper (now running for Lt. Gov) and Andy Kerr (now running for assessor) who came to help.

We're taking August off from this project and will get back to you about a possible day in September or October.

Help save our own lives!

On July 25, please join other members of the community in volunteering to thin trees on the side of our wildfire evacuation routes.

People died in Paradise, Calif., stuck in traffic jams with flames on the side of the road. We have only 7 routes out of Conifer and we're working on 3 of them so far. Everyone must exit on one of these roads, and they are likely to be a traffic jam.

We need especially people to drag branches to trailers, and people with trailers to take branches to the slash drop-off.

Firewood is free - come by on July 25 to Pleasant Park Road south of Oehlmann Park Road, or contact [email protected].

Thank you for your help!

Protect Conifer:
Clear Our Evacuation Routes!
Conifer has only 7 roads out of town. People can die of heat and smoke while stuck in traffic jams on the few evacuation routes. Many routes will be blocked by fire or traffic, so you never know which road you will need. Join Conifer Rotary and your neighbors to thin trees on the side of the road, carry branches, and make our community safer.
Don't just worry about the fire danger that is "off the charts," according to fire experts. We can do something. We CAN make our community safer. We've already finished Hwy 73 from US 285 to Marshdale!
You don't need to be an expert. Much of the work is dragging branches to the trailers, no experience needed.
