The Golden Optimists Bicycle Recycle Program (GOBRP) has been serving the community of greater Golden for more than 30 years. We receive donated bicycles and volunteers repair them at our workshop at 1200 Johnson Road in Golden! Through our work, old bikes find a new life full of purpose, and are diverted from landfills. Once a bike is fixed up, they are given away for free (yes, free!) or at a lo
w cost to anyone who needs a bicycle: Students, Families, Kids, and community members. We have fixed up more than 450 donated bicycles and donated them to folks in need, including local community members who are experiencing homelessness, students and youth, members of the Navajo and Hopi Nations, veterans, and more. Our workshop has a world map marked with many pins representing the home countries of the Colorado School of Mines international students who have received bicycles. Bicycle recipients are encouraged to help repair their bicycle and learn about bike maintenance. We also provide helmets for no charge and encourage bicycle safety. Volunteers are absolutely vital to our work! Community members from all backgrounds are invited to email us at [email protected] to learn more about volunteering. If you'd like to make a donation or become a sponsor of GOBRP, please connect with us at [email protected]. We'd love to share how your support helps us achieve our mission!
