Yesterday, SSCM was proud to participate in the Human Trafficking Response Team Summit at Wi******er Hall.

Our Executive Director, Maria Herrera, represented the Spanish Speaking Community of Maryland, Inc. (Frederick location) as part of a multidisciplinary panel alongside partners from healthcare, law enforcement, legal services, and victim advocacy. Panelists included representatives from Frederick Health Hospital, Heartly House, Frederick County Department of Social Services, Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Frederick Police Department, and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

This collaborative effort highlights the importance of a coordinated, community-based response to human trafficking, ensuring that survivors receive comprehensive, culturally responsive support. SSCM remains committed to working alongside our partners to protect and empower vulnerable individuals and families in our community.

We are so excited to share that the Spanish Speaking Community of Maryland is expanding and opening another office right here on Route 40!

This new location means even more support for our community, including free consultations with immigration attorneys and new financial assistance for immigration services. Most importantly, it allows us to reach and support more families through programs like “Left Behind But Not Alone,” ensuring no one feels alone during difficult times.

We are proud to continue growing and serving our community in even bigger ways. Stay tuned—more programs and opportunities are coming soon!

Over the past two nights, we had the incredible joy of visiting the homes of SSCM families to spread holiday cheer and sprinkle a little happiness! 🎄✨

Our amazing team—Big Papis, Sentelle Law, Luqman Law, along with SSCM staff, partners and Board members—came together to purchase, wrap, and deliver toys to 50 children, as well as bags of food for their families this holiday season.

Our festive caravan filled with Santa, elves, and smiling faces was a huge hit both nights and brought so much joy to the neighborhoods we visited! 🎅🤶

SSCM is truly grateful to have such incredible partners who genuinely care about our community. ❤️

We at SSCM are deeply grateful!

Thanks to the generosity and kindness of Maxwell Burgers and Shakes, we provided 7 families a full Thanksgiving meal today. Their food is incredible, and even more they truly care about helping others.

We were also humbled to receive 15 food baskets and gift cards from Karen Mobley and Ruth Wexler - such thoughtful donations from hearts that care.

Through these collaborative efforts (special thanks to DeVeda. Nicole, Tracy and Jennifer from FCPS), we provided 15 complete Thanksgiving dinners to families at West Frederick Middle School Today.

That's a wrap! SSCM, in collaboration with amazing partners has provided more than 1,350 family meals to Thanksgiving tables across our community in the last two weeks.
